SharkSmart
A 3.1 GWS caught tagged and released at Evans an hour ago this is becoming the average catch size of late on far nth coast.
Imagine the shit will hit the fan the day a tagged and released shark attacks someone.

... as reported by the other guy.
I bought a lotto ticket for us today.
FWIW, yelling under water as we paddled and banging hands on boards between alternate paddle strokes seemed to spook it enough to stop any further inquiry.
From where I was sitting, about a metre and half from my mate, there was a definite water disturbance as it deviated from it's path near him, and then went under me. Funny thing, I still haven't seen a dorsal fin or the tip of it's tail - it was deeper than I've usually seen sharks when cruising through.
Air surveillance chopper had gone North about 45 mins earlier - it hadn't stopped anywhere to the North or South of us within our line of sight.
Been away for a while so not sure if this was posted but scarey as hell imo.........

When do we get 'our' shark nets?
Feeling a bit spooked. I woke early hours dreaming I was pulling my legrope off me and my board to tie around a blokes leg in the surf after he'd been bitten. Spent the first few hours this morning, while having a coffee, going through the logistics and practicality of helping someone if surfing a bit remote.
Yesterday, it was only me and a mate. If he'd been bitten, I'd have had to get the blood flow eased up, get him to the beach, then make a decision - stay with him to stem blood flow with say my wetsuit, rashie, etc. OR do the bolt up the beach and track to get to my car, phone and back to him. Until yesterday I had not thought it through.
Hmmm.
Stay safe everyone.
After watching that Ash Gibb encounter, how menacing is the circling and interesting to know you could hopefully avoid an attack by looking directly into the sharks eyes. I might hot glue some googly craft eyes from spotlight under my board.
there might be something in that Dean.
Smart shark. This is pretty amazing.

Kind of torpedos the whole 'east coast' 'west coast' population theory...
Or maybe it just visits but doesn't breed with the other mob?
Seems like any thing is possible and maybe the South african whites cruise across to Wa to see their relos......
