The Rio Pro sux.
Kelly prefer to stay home and play in the tub.
Surf is officially dogshit.
Haha doesn't look that bad.. but I agree get an Indo event happening.
An 8 for Toledo already .
More like a 6 I'm calling.
Looks like the judges are going to bukkake their booth for Phillipe.

Hehe, Even tried to justify his decision to let it go post heat..... Just admit it, you f'd up mate!
Boy Wilco blew that with 30 secs to go ........and had priority.......gotta say it but the contest isnt worth watching, the guys that pulled out made the right decision.
I know he blew priority but faaaark you'd watch that first wave of wilkos over and over again before you'd press replay on either of those airs!!!

Jeeezarz Christ.
You can say that the WSL can't control nature , but that shit is avoidable and embarrassing .
I just found some emoticon things on my IPad .
⌛️
There, that's suitable.
It's the sands through the hourglass of my life running rapidly down as I waste them watching the Oi Rio Pro.
Alas, This is avoidable and embarrassing for myself.
I canT get motivated to stay up late to watch a heat.
Not all thing's from Brasil are bad.
That's not the Brazilian pool party I had in mind.
Look.
We all know that the Rio Pro has the worst waves on tour. "No better than a good day at my local" and so on.
But the Rio Pro is there because of the fans. Brazilian fans and athletes are the most passionate. Look at Matt Bantings latest Instagram post: "I love the fans here, even when you lose they still cheer you after the heat."
Also the Rio Pro is where we see the most progression, the most innovation. Yes, watching only airs is boring as hell, but the tricky conditions push athletes to try different ideas out there.
Mind you though, you still wont see me watching anything other than highlights.
I'm thinking if they drop one of the AU legs, then add in Indo (Keramas?) or somewhere on the Asian circuit (probably Japan), and find a better spot in South America (the audience there is too big to bail on a South American event).
But with the amount of drop-outs for Rio, clearly the surfers besides the Brasilians aren't keen on the event.
Japan would be another Brazil, trust me.
Ah really? Thought it would be cool to add an Asian stop just for a bit more variance country-wise.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there was a Japanese stop a few years back wasn't there? That or they could re-introduce the Rip Curl 'Search' stop.
Japan has it's moments of glory and there are some incredible waves here, but probably not at a place they'd be inclined to hold a contest. Can be very hit and miss and when it's off, it's atrocious. Also, the best time of the year is around October but then it could be out of control massive and the swells are generally very short-lived with dicey winds thrown into the mix. Winter pumps with all day offshores and lovely groundswell but by gollies it's freezing. Nobody likes seeing pro-surfing in booties and hoods.
Plus, the place is just plain fugly with litter strewn beaches buried in cement. Sounds like paradise 'eh?
The women are amazing though if you're into Asian chicks:)
For viewing online, Indo would be hard to beat.
I didn't realise Japan's season was that varied! But I can only imagine what the weather would be like in the winter... you're right, watching pros in their 5:4s, hoodies and booties might be a turn-off. I wonder how many people actually committed to watching Rio? I got a few heats in where I could without having to struggle to work in the morning haha!
But sounds like the other sights in Japan are good then... It's still on the to-travel list for me!
Well, if they do drop an AU event (my guess would be Margs), then I say put Keramas on the tour!
And Kelly think so too, he's not going...maybe a protest move?
Bring back Keramas.
