I've used 1Cover and TID before.

We've used 1Cover for a couple of years now. Haven't had any surf-related claims (board damage by airlines, surfing injuries, etc) but at least 1 claim that I can remember - it was for a delayed flight and they paid with no quibbling. The fine print seems good compared to some others out there.
I remember seeing one somewhere that was specifically for surfers, covering surfing injuries and board damage. I'll try to dig it out.

...found it:
Indo Surf Travel Insurance:
www.indosurf.com.au
It says it's underwritten by QBE so I guess it's ok, but I'd do a bit of research - reviews by people who have made claims with them.

I've use QBE and claimed and got full claim amount. Mate has also snapped two boards and claimed and received full amount.
