Does anyone out there have some advice on brands/styles of Indo booties for some one who absolutely hates booties? Thanks

God, I can't stand wearing booties. But when it's been essential I try and resort to just wearing one on my back foot. As long as it's got a single split (big) toe and a velcro fastener you'll be fine.

Anyone ever tried these ridiculous looking things?

Latest O'Neill reef boots fitted good, no slip, (not the $59.95 with drawstring and velcro) the new ones with light grey soles. Have instep velcro and sell for about $40. Can't recall the name but like the "Superfreak Tropical" only cheaper and worked for me. Soles are chunkier and thicker than normal booties for coral hopping. Bit like a car tyre but still flexible enough to not lose feel and not over thick like some others.

Quite like the look of that particular brand ben, though not the one you found, these I think are better.http://www.vibramfivefingers.it/product_details.aspx?model=SIGNA

I took these to Bali and they were absolutely perfect.

You put em on while you walk out across the reef and when you're done, they're small enough to fold into your boardies pocket and you can surf normally!

Good find ACB! When surfing G'Land or places similar I used to jury rig a system where, after I'd paddled off the reef, take my booties off and slip them through an elastic loop, then slip the loop around my neck and tuck the booties down the inside the back of my rashy. Meant I paddled around looking like the hunchback of Notre Dame.

who the hell wears booties at cooly? lol.

They are thin soled but surprisingly tough.

I had no problems with mine at a break out the back of Nusa Lembongan.
