Vids other than surfing thread (cool doccos, movies etc)
Kung Foo Master works out on Two Fingers - Live Leak.
Been enjoying the documentary series on SBS called Abandoned where a skateboarder by the name of Rick McCrank visits areas in America that been left behind and turned into wastelands by the countries rampant consumerism.
Episode 4 is about the 20 schools in St Louis that are now empty and the remaining school is a military college, giving the lower class poorly educated the opportunity to guard the oil fields in the middle east.
At the end he visits this incredible abandoned church with huge arches and massive stained glass windows, in which the local skateboarders have turned into a skatepark, very surreal.

That’s sounds like a good one, sbs have a few that I like.
I’ve caught a couple episodes of River Cottage Australia and I’m enjoying that
Whatever Goofy.
I'm not a fan of crowds for a start . And I like my intimacy to be a little more consensual regardless if it's besides a waterway.
Oh wait..... that's river cottage , not river frottage.
My mistake.
There you go, if anyone ever enquires about the lowest point of Swellnet.
Hello hello?
Did someone say they needed the bar lowered?
Reminds Gary of a little incident he had at schoolies in the Gold Coast once, can't remember which year but it must have been the 12th or 13th schoolies Gary went to. Gary had overdone the caffeine powder while trying to do a bit of final rig sculpting and a friendly fella who'd been admiring the Ol' G from afar sidled up to offer a bit of heart medication and a bottle of smelling salts to calm me down. Even put his arm around my shoulder, kindly, to make sure Gary was feeling ok.
Well Gary doesn't know what was in those little blue, diamond-shaped pills, but Gary had to turn down the gentleman's offer of a relaxing sauna because it soon became obvious the bar wasn't gonna get lowered anytime soon.
Queensland, it's a funny place hey?
I was never going to make the high point. The bottom rung was all I had to call my own.
That's not the first heart Gary G has broken, is it ?
Qld hey... beautiful one day, Double Garry the next
Coolie cam locked onto a whole lot a Gary's goin off. thanks.
Midnight Oil 1984 - Doco

Some people have the life.....
Alvey’s 1 : 1 retrieve ?
Fuck that.
Get those fuckers in ASAP. Wait till you’re dodging sharks to see how much time you’ve got for a slooooooow retrieve.
Digging their holistic approach to fishing/ life though. More power to them.
The fishing looks awesome but looking at the size of those abalone the fisheries wouldn't like it
People talk about learning from blackfellas and maybe the ultimate thing we can gleam from their example is to treat the Earth’s resources as finite and to realise the depth you can exploit an area of any harvest before it becomes unsustainable.
Everyone please check the appropriate regulations for each area you intend to hunt / fish / harvest.
More importantly, ask the locals just what is cool / uncool to catch or take. Respect the place you stand on .
Would have been great if they showed a bit of surfing with it,maybe episode 2......cant understand why they use Alvey's.......simple but....and nice feel good catch and release but if those Groper had swallowed the hooks they wouldn't survive,be better off eating them.
The abalone were tiny as were the groper not to mention climbing all over virgin cliff instead of sticking to tracks and chopping down trees , all very "back to nature", the desert is a fragile environment and should be respected, it may look like fuck all but every little bit of vegetation is precious, even stuff that looks dead is still holding back erosion and may just be dormant rather than dead. More of a what not to do in SA video clip
Oi the Abs are o.k. cos Tahlija is Aboriginal
Really?!?
I think that you’re right with both perspectives, Indo.
Watched a good documentary on WWF legend Andre The Giant last night on SBS. Well worth watching. A nice guy caught up in the fucked up world of Pro Wrestling. Can see it on SBS On Demand.
Liveleak - Man pranks girlfriend
This bloke is a brave man to do this....girlfriend Rebekah she's an absolute Champ for going through with it !
If anyone is ever tempted to watch “ Enemy “ starring Jake Gyllenhaal then don’t do it.
Just don’t.
Cold , onshore , raining .
A glass of red next to the fire and season 4 of Peaky Blinders.
Good times.
This is more like it.
Love this gear. Raw , honest and unpretentious.
They seem like decent people too .
For those not acquainted with Mr. Bob Mortimer and his appearances on Would I Lie To You?
IT IS ALL GOLD-STANDARD.
God damn, that is the best free-to-air show on TV.
I've had occasional neighbour complaints about the volume of laughter eminating from my loungeroom.
Very funny facto The truth is stranger than fiction
Not sure if it's been mentioned before but 'gogglebox' is good for a laugh.
Who is America - Sacha Baron Cohen keeping his act together somehow
Hah! I can picture this in Australia with a Barry O'Sullivan, Ian Macdonald, or Craig Kelly...take your pick...it's endless! Bernardi with the selfie-stick on Pauline! Abetz with trousers down!
Ya gotta laugh...
Cuckolded by a dolphin, at least he gets 3 months in Oahu.
Get your Gnar on....
Those hills are fucking insane. They should film some footage from the bottom looking up so you can get a deeper appreciation of how steep and crazy those streets of San Francisco really are. And how fast those freaks are bombing!
Totally. Sick vid too.
Paradox? The nation with the worst health care in the OECD has skaters that require the best health care.
Same goes snowboarding and FMX too, I guess.
Some seriously sketchy shit in that vid.
Seen this, comrades?

Had a 'special' day after a big, big night TODAY. Just quietly.
Watched every single episode.
Fark. We were crying in joyous pain.
Champagne comedy.
Burp.
Actually, we went to the local Sk8 park as well on our 'special' day off yesterday. This seems appropriate.

ABC i -view
Torque with Peter 'lets dress up ' Wherret
Watched 'Bandersnatch' the other night with zero knowledge of what it involved and was violently thrust out of my festive season reverie. Charlie Brooker's between-season 'film' has all the dread and paranoia of his Black Mirror episodes, yet also includes non-lineal storylines traversed by watching with a keypad (or remote). Essentially a loose riff on free will, the viewer becomes an agent in the film by making decisions that alter the outcome of the story.
Yeah it's gimmicky, but so was Ulysses which voiced interior monologues and stream-of conciousness text, but Brooker plays with the new filmic concept in inspired ways, and which cant be divulged without spolier alerts.
As a new style of storytelling it has promise. Recent 360° VR videos, of the kind you occasionally see made by Red Bull, leave me underwhelmed. For narrative-free videos I'd rather watch passively, no driving curiousity to use the mouse and take in a 360° view on a flat screen, but engagement via storytelling has merit, as long as it's done as well as Charlie Brooker has with Bandersnatch.
Old news, Stu.
People have been physically interacting with their viewing whilst watching Baldersnatch for years now.
Just thought I’d start the new year from the lowest point possible. Can only go up from there.
In theory anyway.
’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!”
Get into it BB. Not the Lewis Carroll stuff, and not Blowin's handy suggestion either, but the choose-your-own-ending film.
Maybe Stu, I am in complete Luddite phase at the moment so not sure I could cope with the technology. But if you want to see some great cinematography try My Brilliant Friend, no special effects, no spectacular scenes, just old master style composition and lighting. A story of two teenage girls in Naples in the 1950s may be a bit low key for some tastes but I can't take my eyes off it.
Indonesia is full of so many contradictions in so many different ways but this place takes the cake.
