wheres winks
Gidday, I used to know Winks really well. He was in Elliston for a while but moved to Crescent Head, and I think he's still there, doing something with golf. I haven't spoken to him for ages, but I think his wife is DON at the hospital there. If you contact the hospital in Elliston, and ask for the CEO Anthony Ryan, 'Rhino', he'll know where he is.
uplift, did you know the guy that was attacked in the 70's or 80's at blacks? a guy i knew said he was camping up top of the cliff having breakfast when this guy ran down, the surf was pumping but all the campers were warming up by the fire. so this guy runs past and paddles out, not so much noticed by the people at the fire but he was full eaten by a white. first known attack at blacks yet theres no recording of it on the net.
Gidday Groundswell, nah, never heard of that one. The tale has some similarities to when the guy got hit at cactus, and his mate saved him, physically fighting the pointer off all the way to the beach. I met those guys at blacks later, when he was hitting it for his first surf back, over here. They reckon that the local guys were all standing around the fire, which is common up there, but doesn't happen at Blacks really, and missed the whole thing. Then when the guy that saved his mate was trying to get help, no one believed him, and he virtually had to run to the carpark, get a sleeping bag, wrap his mauled mate up and try and get him to the car. What a full on story, that guy was a legend. It was featured on 60 Minutes, or one of those shows. So it sounds like maybe that one, kind of mixed up.
Thanks Choppy for tracking me down and uplift for the info. you are right, the attack was at cactus the one you are talking about.
Does anyone remember the day when the dead half eaten seal popped up next to us when we were sitting there.cant remember who was surfing but we all freaked out.
Gidday Winkie, yeah, heard of that one. It was me. I was hungry but so was the pointer. I had to physically fight the pointer off the seal all the way to the beach. I met the those guys at blacks later, when the pointer was hitting it for his first surf back, after I'd messed it up a bit. Don't fuck with ole Lift & Snatch over here. The local guys were all staring at me standing in the fire, which is commonly what I do up there, but doesn't happen at Blacks really, where the blokes just tend to stand and leave when I roll up. Well, thats what i think they do, anway. Don't really remember. When brains were being handed out i missed the whole thing. What a full on story, I was a legend. I should be featured on Port Lincoln Today. So it sounds like this is maybe that one you heard about Flipper. Or Seal. Or Jacko. I'm kind of mixed up.
