We agree that the confederate flag sends the wrong message and by no means represents the views of our club members. The flags were used in the 90's I guess because of the obvious connection to the South. After a long hiatus the club has been re-established with a new logo that has nothing to do with the confederate flag. I don't know why the flag you saw was used. There maybe a few old school flags still around.
It's important to the club that people don't associate us with any racist or prejudicial views.
The SCBR Event was a great day in Memory of our great mate Scott Alexander who passed away last year.
@Jonesurfer Your not from around here are you boy.All jokes aside after the previous weekends flag flying event to which I personally can't see to much difference between the two flags and what they represent.The confederate flag was brought in by older members for a bit of a pisstake back along time ago.Said flags are now used as props so the trailer doors won't fall on your head when you are trying to get something.I will personally see that we will upgrade the flags/props to the southern cross so not to confuse anyone.
Great to hear that SCBR has finally been ressurected. Hats off to those who have provided the energy and effort to make it happen!

Flags aside, you guys did look like you were having a good time in some not so epic surf.
I was bemused to see two Confederate flags flying when I happened upon a South Coast BoardRiders club event on Saturday. Anyone know why they choose to fly a flag that represents bigotry and hatred?
