yeah! I'm pretty sure there's some kind of fecal matter in that mix!! has to be! But I'm very interested to see if anyone else has caught an ear ache from the Bay... no crap, it was the worst pain I ever experienced... and Ive had motorbike prangs, almost snapped an ankle on the Broken Head sandbar on low tide etc... praise be to Endone
Surfed Middleton Bay/Point on Sunday just gone with 4 mates and there was that brown scum everywhere but none of us got an ear ache.
In fact we've all surfed it a lot over the years when it's like that and never had any problems. Maybe try some Aqua Ear next time after you finish your sesh - you might have got some water trapped in your ear.
On this topic - anyone know what it is? Pretty sure it comes when the sou-easters kick in and there is water flowing from the mouth.
I'm no biologist but apparently caused when 'nutrients'(i use that term loosely)within the fresh water react with salt water.
Sunday was definetly cappuccino bay, bloody slippery aswell.

Had a surf on south coast nsw on sat, later gazzoed out at full blast on and off for 5 mins in my shower haha maybe five litres of gazzo, kept on coming. mystics water was cold and pooey too.

1. the level of invective on some of the forums is pretty high at times, but funny too considering that it appears that some of the participants are actually well known (and respected?) surfing identities. Boys will be boys I guess...
2. Someone please close the Murray Mouth... now the easterlies are kicking in, the scum build up at Middleton is on the rise... went out the other day and caught myself the worst earache known possible. Spent 3 hours in emergency waiting room in Ads trying to get top level painkillers which I eventually did.
I can't even begin to imagine what is in that soup that's floated all the way down the river to end up in PooBay... I don't want to imagine!! Roll on summer (errgh)
