MHL Sydney buoy
yeahhhhhh buoy
Come said the buoy
Buoy oh buoy!
Buoys don't cry?
Oh but they do when they're left off a comprehensive list supposedly featuring every song title with boy in it.
NQ COWBOYS.
the only boys you need worry about.
good news about the buoys going directional.
Did they say why they lose the signal when the swell is big?
Don't forget 70's Oz shockrockers "Jimmy and the buoys" ...
Looking forward to the upgrades, esp accurate directional.
Yeah, I got that bit Ben.
But even before it was switched over, the buoys would often go down mid storm. Port Kembla and Sydney seem to be the worst.
The Sydney and Port Kembla are replicating data exactly.
Sydney was AWOL for ages, so maybe as a quick fix they've just copied the data off Port Kembla.
Ben Modra, if you're out there do you have any info on this?
Cheers, Craig
I had a chat with MHL last week about the ongoing problems with the data feed from their Sydney buoy. As some of you may have noticed, Sydney buoy data has been either very sporadic or completely non-existent for several months which has been quite frustrating during some of the large swell events in recent weeks.
Turns out the current buoy will be upgraded soon - right now, it's an older Waverider buoy that was deployed temporarily while the previous one was taken in for repairs - unfortunately this older buoy also has its own problems. As such we should see a return to a more consistent data feed in the next couple of weeks once.
Also, MHL have upgraded all NSW buoys to be directional, which is fantastic news (it's been a large, expensive project over the last three or four years).
