one visit to sunny Vicco, me + "X" + "Z", nailed 27 from the boobs hole one lazy arvo, then got on the piss big.
I got up early, hung to the max, filleted the lot, and was on a plane outa Tullamarine with 54 KGW whiting fillets before the boys had risen from the haze. Took the lot. ha.
Got a phone call back on the Goldie..."where's the fish ?".

sat morn was bangn pretty well craig...bommi had some 15-18ft sets..we went north to the wave we surfed the day you went south when you were here last, it was 6ft slabbn but a bit wobbly....went to surf the bommi that night and it was 8-15ft, sets every 4 minutes but looked too south as it was only A framing on the east bowl..the wind was a bit too SW so a bit too much chop on it...the in betweeners were sik....no one out!
fitz...i got them in WA after seeing craikey and crew using them...80-100mtrs...we tried them in the bight but couldnt get enough snapper to make it viable...fishing 15-100 mtrs outa streaky -west

pulled some big KGW double headers when snap fishin with, [cough] paternoster, on pilly. they was in 60-65 m. get like 3 KGW double headers in a row, then back to snaps. ?

theres about 70 pro handline fisherman on the west coast between streaky /ceduna/smoky /venus/coffins/bairds bays...these are all inland estaurine systems...shallow 1-4 mtrs seagrasses....we catch up to 6-7 ton of KGW per license annually....now thats fun Sid!!

ya they hang with snaps on the lighter bottom out deep....saw a side baggn trawler come into streaky years ago..he had a cupl boxes of slobs from 60-100 mtrs...they were 70-80? bigger...they were hangn out the end of syd fishmarket box as i remember and looked like dinosaurs

Hey Scmucks, what do you reckon? Always got the whiting on nippers, 6' 1/2" Alvey on light gear (nippers) or worms? Always got a few elbow slappers. Worms never paid out? The 6'1/2" would always pay off on the beach, Bream. Tailor, Dart and the odd Jewie. Sid's on to it- double swivel, light lead above the bait, drifting into the channel.
10 ft shock leader, fish the run in, alternate baits, used to score, even on the beach in front Narrowneck. Jumpinpin for Flattie to this day.

I fished out of Kalbarri, wet-lining for pinkies, gold bands and jewies (west ozzy ones) with Kieran on the Tardis and Phil "headbutt" on the Sabea.
Out off the zuytdorp cliffs and Steep point or grounds near the Abrolhos.

Jeff, 15 odd years ago used one of those 24V alveys in 100+m of water but wasn't really viable. We were moreso experimenting with it for a new fishery up here.

yeah fitz...they work unreal outa kalbarri there..gd bottom and good stock of fish...we have a reakl lump fishery here and not enough bottom to hold the biomass needed to smack 1 ton trips regularly...the pros are hittn them with longlines with light NZ gear to cover the ground.....

zen...use southern calamari but pound the meat with a meat tenderiser..SKIN DOWN on a solid board so it shatters the texture of the flesh...no.4's when ya on slob fish...keep it light as u can...burley light out there with oyster shell or cockle(pipi) crushed slightly but not too much. we pulled 1300 fish for 308 kg one day but they were going mental in the shallows....27 double headers in a row!

sun 76...havnt heard about the search coming to the westcoast yet but have always thuoght its inevitable that they may want to...obviously i am not against it and would like to see it in the streaky area as the variety of waves would assure a good event...i was dissapointed they never held it at tombys/gnarloo area...would have been sick. I think that joint is fully exploited so wouldnt have made much difference there.. I'm also confident that these comps around the world clean up after themselves and they have done it and done a good job long enough to cross all the t's and dot the i's.

hmmm dunno bout due but its been a while and the gillnet boats are being kiked out which put a lot of pressure on the greatwhite stocks in the past...from reports at neptunes with cage diving they are seeing a lot of small great whites which is an ominous sign...theres a great white cruising at kalbarri ATM and the boys have seen it numerous times...odd!!.....get a ski and reduce your chances by 98%!! ...good yamaha advertising ay?

Spoke to a good mate who you saw out at G'Land the other day. He was the fella sitting there on his pat when you and the other team rocked up. He appreciates the fact you asked him if it was OK to tow, but not the fact you went and took every wave anyway. Ha ha...
Did he really say we took all the waves?? sammy got one from way out and your mate paddled into it and sam politely got off...thought that was nice of sam...we did take evry wave but we never took any off him...he waas caught inside for so long and we both asked if he wanted a lift and he declined politely..i also asked if he wanted a tow but he wasnt keen...i said "maybe you better not before you ask the missus ,coz if you have a go you'll be down at yamaha pitmans as soon as ya get back, buying a ski".....end of the day i was impressed to see a lone paddler out there at daylight...hats off bruz
Ha ha...nah, I made that bit up Jeff. Though he did say you guys were hooking into a few. He's got a pretty good record out there for paddling big waves with sessions at YB and a coupla bombys west of Fowlers that discretion prevents me from naming.
Doubt he'd ever be a tow fella. Reckons he came across a big Osprey walking back to the carpark and that was the highlight of his day.
huh...i heard its crowded over west...ive surfed a lot on that coast and ive never seen him before...not that i remember anyways....i honestly couldnt understand how he was happy caught inside in the same spot on the end bowl for 10 mins while i got 6 smokn ones in front of him in a row...end o the day i would have to go to KFC or maccas for a fast food serve of 50 set waves for a session....i rekn he rode 6 waves and made 3 for the whole session...if that floats the boat then goodonya....i thought it floated mine for 20 years until i grabbed the rope...oh we saw a cupl osprey too when we went ayanked 6-8ft island with wash thrus....no paddlers...woulda yanked a cupl at squizza too but there was a cupl guys out....thanks jeff!!
