My brother sent me a link to this band a few days ago, can't stop listening to them.
Would love to hear what you guys think.

Nothing like a good surfing clip!!

Here's one. Bells, NYE, 1994. Any SN'rs surf that day? It was huge. I was just a grom and me and my mate Ads, were on a roadtrip from S.A sitting in his little old datsun in the front row Bells carpark, ripped to the eyeballs, watching towering, what looked to be 10-12 foot Bells with a slight onshore ruffle. I've never seen it that big before or since. We were groms and had no intention of going near it. A guy got washed into the corner near the button at Winki and with no beach and only cliffs it was perilous...people were screaming. He somehow escaped. Anyway,...while we watched, off our chops, this was the song that was playing while we looked on. I'll never forget it. The music not only worked into the moment, it lifted the energy, at least for a couple of stoned crows at the time, and turned the whole thing into a gladiator theatre. I remember looking at one wave as a guy dropped in on a 9foot plus gun and thinking it looked like Todos Santos. Anyway, we scored great waves that trip. 6ft Bells...etc. Uncanny for that time of year so pretty sure there'll be some that remember it (and probably call bullshit on my grom 12ft calls).
Fuck this is a good album.

Really looking forward to that Hard Ons doco. It's been a long path to get it to this point. Hopefully some of those issues are also covered in it.
An earlier generation and my current number one in the just-created contest of best album openers.
Been re-visiting this album lately, it got a good flogging in my early 20’s driving around in the old VR Commy wagon

That was sick JF. Cheers. Some great changes of tempo and guitar.
Happy Grand Final Weekend all. Go Lions!

How can you go past Fugazi’s waiting room on “13 Songs” as a strong contender?

Mackay for president 2024 @etarip. Make America punk rock again.
haha, "my current number one in the just-created contest of best album openers".. nice 'opener', nice rebuttal @etarip.
Regarding Stu’s just created contest of best album openers…. This has gotta be up there

Definitely up there. Extra points for not only being an album opener but also opening the band's recording career.

Unreal!
Unreal Goofy. Just out of curiosity, was the VL wagon metallic blue? That's what i'm picturing. haha.
Best album opener of all time. Sheesh. This was the first song that sprung to my mind...great uplifting thought provoking lyrics too that are relatable still today. Probably not the greatest of all time, but the greatest of tonight.
Dark green hahaha.
Coat $10,000 which was a shit load to me back then. (Still is!)
Loved it.

Seeds - mad energy
Fugazi is one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live. ANU refectory in 97.
8 bucks (pay less if you want), etarip, reckon I have a dozen of these live recordings now : )

Funny fugazi came up, when i first saw Stu's post earlier and thought what albums have great opener's.
This was one of a few that came to mind straight away

Like this as well as an introduction to a musician I stuck with for numerous releases. Sadly not really my cup of tea musically since Morning Phase.

Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
