Brings back memories of youth. She looks like a beautiful Paul Stanley unmasked. Thankfully without the chest hair
Songs from the car driving home from the surf. Love what shuffle throws up.
cheers blackers for the wormhole bait, listening to Wire and canberra's Tactics atm.
Here's a calm, misty, week starter - celtic duo Ye Vagabonds, 26 min film of gigs played around their home islands:
Rollin" thunder
Melbourne boys Super X = guitar noise with swagger (look ma no bass).
New Album coming soon, see 'em May 13th @ the Gem Bar (free), here's their debut:
Sleaford Mods pre-sale tickets just went on sale
so glad I bought this one on release, back in the day. Me to younger me: 'Well done!'
The 12" sold locally had it as B side to 'What the world is waiting for', imagine that, an anthem as a B side!

Good work VJ. Suggests a Friday afternoon topic - one album wonders. Bands who hit the heights with their first long play release and never quite made it back
Haha, sounds great! Jacko's been done...
challenge accepted
haha, yazz indeedy : P
green river only had 1 release... wonder what became of these losers?
Right back at ya VJ.
well then...
Spring Plains who morphed into a fairly popular unit, still playing today.
Not quite hit makers but ..
Geez... is that ross jumping his voice about like that? Is this a comp?
Whatever it is, wailing, string arrangements, fuzz, stonking bass, wayward noise solos, I'm in. The Wet Ones LP Crack Up arrived today. Back to theme VJ:
That's a cracker album by the Swingers. Have a copy on vinyl. Don't think it was Knighty on that track.
And out of the ashes, rising like a phoenix...
Ahh, sweet pick. A little light dinner music?
Oh shoot! It's a 12 bar! haha ; )
Thought this was a great album, what was it? A side project for MH?
JellyF sent this to someone he's crushing on. Magnificent phlegmatically-disturbed fuzz. Reminded me of the 9th best-ever cartoon theme-song (sans joy and harp) from Roobarb (below):
Haha… ‘crushing on’…
Oh. Yes…
- that ‘someone’ whom you’ve showered with gracious compliments ;)
You know… ‘certainly admire your fortitude’… haha… and… ‘props’ ;);)
Basic stuff.

A bit belated but here are my picks from an outstanding Womadelaide 2023.
Cimafunk, led by a (young) Cuban version of James Brown, they brought the house down. Amazing showmen and women. Saw them twice.
San Salvador, vocal gymnastics, acapella style, literally gave 100% to their performance. Sing in Occitan. Also saw them twice.

Sampa, excellent performance. Energy , rhythm and moves.
MEUTE, oompah techno
Mdou Moctar, desert guitars

Constantinople, mesmerising Middle Eastern sounds

and of course Flo and her machine
Plus tons of other great acts.
Finished off on Monday night with DJ Guts, outstanding set.
Yep, featuring none other than Australian electronic music legend Ollie Olsen!
At the other end of Ollie’s amazing career is this:

What a song eh?
I highly recomomend if the swells ever very big and unruly, whack this in your ears, even if you're not particularly a fan of this kind of music, and watch as the ocean and music meld as one. I've taken some amazing photos with this song/album blasting in my ears.
nice one southernraw...
That Breakdown of Sanity song is like skateboarding down a street in the 90s, dragging a stick along a corrugated fence, listening to a mash up of Metallica/ FaithNoMore/ JanesAddiction/ AliceInChains through distorted foam headphones. I liked it! Especially the free-float-feel bit 0:45 - 0:00.
(nice message mid-comp yesterday too, hope your weekend is grouse as : )
Great suggestion for a fun Sunday starter zen:
Monday morning gunk remover.. nice one frog
RIP human rights campaigner Harry Belafonte
On our way to Osaka, just my missus and me. Kids at home, reliving our yoof. Weather is gorgeous to boot.
.
Was in the privileged position to get to play shows supporting these guys..many times over.
Adelaide legends
Testeagles.
A little surfing anthem. "Reo, off the lip, Cutback to the pit!!"
Did anyone make it to one of the Mudhoney gigs? Good reviews in the papers. Seminal Rats would have been interesting, were great live act back in the day.

Heading to see them this week blackers, I'll let you know. Hope you and the missus had some nice times on your trip. Further to yours, zen's and Roadkill's chats during the comp, my daughter is a japanophile, she has the midnight diner theme song on loop some nights
&t=1sCheers basesix, still touring. Enjoy the gig.
swellnet's Coronation Gig is fit for a King

devo vs wasnotwas invisible dino mash up?
Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.
Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.
