Tea tree or Granites?
IMO, Granites can handle the crowd way better than Tea Tree because the main peak is a little more random and spread over a wider area. But Tea Tree is a better wave.
Every time im there and theres even a hint of swell i check Granites and Tea tree but granites always looks average and more open to wind, Tea tree nice but lacking a bit of punch, 99% of the time i end up going back and surfing the boiling pot section at national parks.
A true wonder of the world the Noosa points one of the best setups ever, but such a pity they rarely get a decent swell wish they were down here in Vic they would break every second week, but most likely wouldn't be the same as the sand would wash away.
Also we are so lucky the national park is there even if its two foot and crowded its still nice sitting out looking back at bush rather than urban jungle.
Ohh dear... I could let fly at what I've read......... "ommmm"........ "ommmm"...... calm down sheepdog......calm down......... ;)
You just can't go past Tea Tree, mid-morning on a weekend, at about 2' - 3', especially if its Xmas school holidays............................

There are cold water Noosa equivalents in Vicco, and I reckon they break less often than the outer Noosa points.
Ok.. Had a valium sandwich and calmed down......
Like all Qld points, the "quality" of the Noosa setups (except for the first section at tea tree) are totally reliant on sand..... "Real" Tea tree breaks off the outer point. From there through to the "finger" ( one of the rock jump off spots) is mainly reef, but from the finger all the way through to the beach (80% of the ride) is at the whim of what the sand is doing. I've seen it perfect, fat, breaking wide and closing out.
Granite too is totally reliant on sand. Looking at the swellnet photos of Luci, It seemed there was too much sand at granite, probably because of that long looong flat spell.....
"Real" Granite bulges off the outer point, slows down a bit, then rifles along the sand covered shelf in front of the knoll ( where every one leaves their gear).
Boiling pot used to be fun..... Forget it...... I'd rather be raped by Ron Jeremy..... Just a shit fight followed by dodging 300 surfers when you nail one.
Nationals is over rated...... It's actually quite sectiony. Alot of guys surf it wrong.
Indo, I could give you a big tip..... but my mates up there would get shitty.....
Dromo - I could give you a big tip..... but my mates up there would get shitty.....
Hells Gates for the win.
Free ride wrote "Hells Gates for the win".................... yeah well I'm more of a Lion Rock sorta guy.....
@Sheep dog, ha ha im just talking from experience back in the 90,s and early 2000's did a stint living at Sunshine beach and another few years down the Sth end of the hoax coast, i mean Sunny coast :P
Im afraid i will probably never surf there again, still got my oldies up there, but crowds were bad enough then, dont think i could handle them now.

Whoops your correct forgot about those, always wanted to but never surfed them :(
Tassie also has its own set of tucked away right points, another rare but beautiful set up.
beter add swell direction, granite in a sou west wind can open it up some which it needs.
Indo... There's still a couple of spots on the hoax that the wingnuts don't frequent.... But it's the cost of living up there..... Ridiculous.....
Hippy, there's something else about granite....... But I aint sayin' shit........ ;)
funny, not telling either ...
I just wanted to get some informed opinion on when it's better to keep walking past tea tree to granites? I understand the bay is a soft wave, but right on the point at tea tree seems pretty sweet and on the last swell I could see granites looked pretty decent but I just stayed at tea trees cause it seemed packed up there and i expected a lot more hassle? Is it that much more 'hardcore' with ensuing bullshit than right on the point at tea tree and should i simply be surfing it know matter what if i want to get to 'experienced' status? I believe I can hold my own but I don't see a point getting smashed on rocks to gain 'cred with the hardcore crew.
