Best Days: Wednesday morning, early Thursday, Sunday morning
Recap:
The weekend started off onshore and tiny, while a small increase in W/SW swell was seen on Sunday but only to 1-1.5ft or so.
Today tiny 1-1.5ft waves were continuing down South with a light offshore wind, creating cleaner conditions.
This week (Jan 21 -24)
The surf will start out tiny tomorrow, but an intense mid-latitude low is expected to move in from the west and aim a fetch of gale to severe-gale SW winds through our swell window while pushing across us.
This should kick up a late increase in SW swell tomorrow that's expected to peak Wednesday morning to 3ft+ across Clifton. Winds should swing to the W/NW early Wednesday creating clean conditions with afternoon S/SE sea breezes.
A rapid drop in size is also expected Wednesday afternoon and further Thursday with nothing major on the cards for the rest of the period.
This weekend onwards (Jan 25 onwards)
A new SW swell is due over the weekend, generated by a weak polar front pushing up into us through Saturday. This swell should peak through Sunday with early W/NW winds.
Longer term, there's nothing major on the cards under mid next week, but we'll review this Wednesday.
