Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 6th November)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday morning
Recap
Wednesday's NE groundswell eased back to a smaller 2ft across the coast yesterday morning under light offshores. Today a tiny S'ly swell was breaking across the coast with S/SW winds.
This weekend (Dec 7 - 8)
A deep and powerful low pressure system sitting off our East Coast is seeing a fetch of S/SE gales feeding into its southern flank (pictured right). This should produce a good pulse of S/SE groundswell that's expected to arrive late tomorrow and peak Sunday to a solid 3ft across open beaches with 4ft sets likely at swell magnets.
Winds will be great for south facing beaches and from the N/NW for most of the day, with a drop in size expected into the afternoon.
Next week (Dec 9 onwards)
The low will weaken and move off to the east during tomorrow and we'll consequently see a drop in swell out of the SE into Monday. In saying this though, open beaches should continue to offer 2ft sets from a persistent fetch of strong SE winds being aimed towards us, before easing from 2ft Tuesday morning.
Longer term there's nothing major on the cards so make the most of the coming few days of swell.
