And no, I don’t think that slowing or halting (which is your position?) the rate of immigration (whatever type/types you haven't got back to me about!) is the PANACEA that will 'fix' congestion; is the main problem with "the (previously...where in WA years back?) spiraling" house prices; will sort out hospital wait times & lack of social services etc. I also see you didn't mention any impacts on the environment at all. There's some interesting paths to take there.
As for the "wage declines", as you put it, this is of particular interest to me. It's why I'm wary of say, Van Onselen peddling his economic shtick (the dismal science!) that doing 'something' with immigration will magically resolve any and all issues in this sphere. It's a distraction. It's why he's getting air-time with the usual right-on suspects.
It's something that demands wider discussion and deeper structural change. But remind me, and I may get back to it next week when I'm in. I may use the university and VET sector as a way into getting at the crux of this wage matter.

The reality is quite different. For a start modern humans, Homo sapiens only appeared about 200,000 years ago and for the majority of that time they were an exclusively African species. For a long time the earliest evidence we had for H.sapiens outside Africa was from Australia at 60,000 years ago. If we compare those two dates, the species appearing at 200,000 years ago and arriving in Australia at 60,000 years ago, it is clear that Australian indigenous history cannot be dismissed as "a few millenia". 60 is not a few and it covers 30% of all human history.

It's pretty crazy to think that all of us have roots and history and an almost forgotten nomadic hunter gatherer culture similar to the indigenous people, it's just for different reasons geographic, different plant and animals species, we moved into a different era.
Really we are all cut from the same cloth and all have similar past to a certain point.
Maybe that's why many of us have such a connection to nature and love to get out and spend time in nature, i love surfing, i love fishing, half of the reason is just being out in the elements as I'm just as happy exploring the coast, seeing a headland in the distance and walking up the beach to check it out, then just sitting on a rock looking out to sea, same goes with the bush/forrest/jungle doesn't matter if it's here or somewhere like Indonesia i love just being in it walking through it the smells and sights, id like to think I've also got a connection to the land or to the planet.
Personally i don't like city's much, only really to go see a band or do a day trip shopping etc, but one day or one night is enough for me.
