Tropical Surf Holiday Overseas - Beginner Experience
Hard to go past Bali for cost/proximity, and you'll find lots of beachbreaks west from Kuta. As your skills progress there are mellow reefs/points around the area you can try out.
If you wanted to roll the dice, Oahu's South Shore picks up long period south swells from the South Pacific during these months and there are plenty of slow waves ideal for beginners/longboarders. However swell prospects are far less guaranteed here (as they are episodic, with sometimes little to no background energy) compared to Indonesia.
suitable for beginners? i think i went to the wrong bali... tides suddenly turning and running faster than you can paddle, dragging you onto reefs as waves step ladder from 2 foot to 8+ foot?
Hi Guys,
Going on a overseas holiday in mid June from Adelaide but only have beginner experience surfing on a long board. I want to go to a tropical place with gentle waves to practice on that are long rides.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tom (Kook)
