Put October 16th 2010 in your diary and get yourself over to Strickland Bay Rottnest Island, Western Australia.
The inaugural WA GUNS and HOSES SURF SHOWDOWN between WA's Lawmen and women State and Federal and Western Australia's Legendary Fire Fighters, both Paid and voluntary is set to go off. The event is being run by Western Australia's Surf Riding authority Surfing WA.
Short-boards, Long-boards, Knee-boards, and Body boards. The event will be opened to interstate law enforcement officers, firefighters and staff, possibly other emergency organizations in 2011.
With Strickland bay producing good quality waves, it should be an awesome event to witness and, if you are a WA Firefighter, Police Officer, FEDPOL Officer, and or support staff and you would like to have a crack, please visit the Surfing WA website and register for Guns and Hoses.
Please note, Rottnest Island is a fragile ecosystem and we respect the wishes of the Rottnest Island Authority here, and hope that those of you that attend will too. So get over there and have a ball, great place to visit, explore and enjoy. Breathtaking beaches, bays, and wildlife. The Rottnest Lodge and the Rottnest hotel are also great places to spend your evenings at. The island is a great place to take your family being both relaxing, exciting and educational. The preferred mode of transport on Rottnest Island is by bicycle, though there are tour busses and for contest purposes, shuttle busses.
Game-On....Lock and load.
