Yes, thats right, more chances of winning a spot. Sharing here is only going to change the chance of winning a place by 0.01% or something small like that and I would be happy for anyone who got in anyway

Topsy, just took a look at GoNetwork. In principle looks sound, but their team has NO experience in crypto-currencies/blockchain. Surely that's got to be a major concern!!!

I'm out after reading the first page of this article (Telegram convo).

Thanks Don, glad you found that one, it looks bad and I am out too. I had not dived in to my gonetwork research yet but after that I’m not going to bother. Thats the great thing about bouncing things off each other in a group like this. You have at the very least saved me a lot of time and possibly also from making a bad investment.

I have not researched this at all but my partner has been looking at and says it looks good. As always getting on the whitelist is the first step, then there will be plenty of time to decide.

God i thought it was actually going to be an interesting read.

It should be noted most cryptos don't need to be mined for example 34 of the top 50 cryptos (based on market cap) don't need to be mined using electricity, pretty much all that need to be mined are just alterations on Bitcoin.

Personally i try to invest in crypto that doesn't need mining, i just can't see any crypto getting proper mainstream adoption that needs to be mined and uses huge amounts of energy.

I also try to steer away from crypto that are just coins unless they have some advantage over other coins like fast and cheap, id much rather focus on crypto that aims at working with business and solving business solutions working within the established system rather than some pipe dream that crypto is going to take over the world and replace fiat any time soon.

Thanks Topsy. I'm still researching but at first glance their team look VERY young and VERY inexperienced when it comes to AI.

Question. If you have NEO coins on an exchange like Coinspot, can you use this wallet address for your whitelist wallet address on Effect.AI. I'm thinking not as NEO is only one NEP-5 token, whilst the Effect.AI token will be different to NEO and hence you need an NEP-5 token compatible wallet, bit like myetherwallet for ERC-20 tokens yeah?

Topsy's picture
Topsy's picture
Topsy Thursday, 1 Mar 2018 at 4:46pm

Don, I have just started using neo, so I lack experience in the details. I am using neon wallet, which I have set up on my hardware wallet.
As far as exchanges go (including coinspot) you dont know or have any control over your private key so NEVER use an exchange wallet for an ico.
I asked on a forum the other day and it seems that neo does work in a similar way to erc20 as far as storing other tokens in a neo wallet but I want to research this a bit more before saying that I “know”
When I started investing in icos I remember being a bit shocked at the young age of many of the CEOs and team members of projects, but I am getting used to it now. I think it is definitely worth considering but not a deal breaker for me.

LOCI coin, as I mentioned earlier is worth a look. It is trading at around 0.30 usd at the moment. Around 30% below ico price. The team is very solid. I bought in at around 0.35, It is a medium to long term hold.

Looks interesting Quint. At first look they seem to have a bit of development to go. Some see that as a negative and want a finished product before ico. I question that because imho the projects under development are often muchi better value for money for the investor. At that point it comes down to the team, that is often my main point of focus. I see that Theta has dropped below ico price since release and may do so again. I will watch and wait (and do some research of my own) Also keeping an eye on potential large exchange listings which would probably drive the price up well above ico level. Have not watched the youtube vid yet.
Has anyone else researched this? Dtube is a potential competitor.

Edit: the youtube guy is a tripper, found him quite entertaining :)
Lets see what happens to the price on satrday / sunday, lately the market seems to drop every week around that time

Thanks mate, will check out your links.
Theta is an interesting project. One thing I like is that they are developing their own blockchain, I am thinking that there could be some good price action around the time it goes live. Being schheduled for release later in the year it might create an opportunity to watch, wait buy at a good price if the current bear market continues for a while

@gaz early to mid 20s. Sounds too young but there are a few that have delivered. Vitalek Buterin, Richard Ma, Shingo Lavine etc. Probably kids of programmers (I know Vitalek is) who learnt at a very young age and are fluent in programming in a similar way to being fluent in your native language.

Vitalek Buterin is a freak he is like an alien you can just tell his mind is like some super computer.

Actually there is some real smart people in crypto and yes many are young.

I do think Satoshi Nakamoto wasn't actually a person, i think Bitcoin was created by more than one person though.

Would someone be willing to help my with myEtherWallet and first ICO release. Have a wallet, confirmation email but see nothing in my wallet. A bit lost as my first time use. In fact don't see LGO even in the wallet as an option in the token balances. Obviously a first time attempt. Anyone happy to step me through what I'm missing through...not on forum obviously?

Joakse usually they don't release the tokens until after the ICO has closed and they've worked out all the bonus tokens etc. Provided you've got the confirmation email I wouldn't be too worried until after the ICO has closed and even then it can take some time for the tokens to be distributed. Keep an eye on the ICO website page telegram etc as they usually provide updates on ICO token distributions etc.

Edit: Just downloaded this from their telegram page. Looks like you have to confirm your ETH wallet address with them. Normally you log into the ICO website and there will be a link or tab for you to confirm this.

LGO Token Distribution Finished!
We are happy to inform you that the LGO token distribution finished about 9 hours ago. If you passed the KYC and cannot see them in your wallet so far, be sure you confirmed the ETH wallet you provided us with. You can still confirm it and get your tokens.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the way the tokens were distributed, they might not show on Ethscan.io and other Ethereum explorer. You can still see them in your wallet and are the owner of them now nonetheless.

joakse if its an eth token then you will need to add as a custom token in MEW, they take a while to be listed usually. You'll need the contract address, just do a search in their telegram or discord group. You can also search your wallet address in etherscan.io and the contract address/tokens should be listed there

The FBI has made it very clear that they are watching Bitcoin very closely, and they are getting better and better at finding the true identities of the people who use Bitcoin for illegal activity. They are fully aware that not everyone who uses Bitcoin is a criminal. In fact, they have a public dossier of their educational materials given to law enforcement to help them understand what it is. There are plenty of ways for hackers to hide their identity, but for the casual user, they are not getting any added expectation of privacy from Bitcoin. At this point in time, the only way to truly have an anonymous and untraceable financial transaction is with cold, hard cash. More on bitcoin.....http://net-informations.com/q/mis/bitcoin.html

Maybe I'm wrong but id be surprised if Bitcoin was used that much for criminal activities these days, id expect this is more a media thing, because there are far cheaper, faster and more importantly better privacy coins to transfer money that are much harder to trace..

@don, yes credits is doing well. It has just been released on kucoin as I write this so I’m hoping for another jump tonight.

@joakes after you have logged in to my ether wallet on the right hand side there are 2 blue links. One is to ethplorer.io where you can see your token balances regardless of whether you have added them to mew as a custom token. You can also go to ethplorer.io in a browser and enter your wallets public address and see your token balances. It’s just a bit more quick and convenient doing it that way sometimes, so its good to know. To send your tokens anywhere you need to add them as a custom token.

Both, mostly ico but I have a little flipping fund that I am playing around with and decided to buy some on idex and wait for the inevitable large exchange listing. That happened a few hours later with kucoin but the recent crash has held things back a bit. Should be looking good when the market recovers. I wish I had a bit of extra money in tethers at the moment, there are some bargains out there.
Did anyone else get credits from ico?

So many icos at the moment, just need to focus on being extremely selective. Getting tired of signing for whitelists but thats what needs to be done.
Abyss are going to be the first ico to try out Vitalek Buterins model where the community of contributors have control of the release (and potential payback) of funds.
NEX signup is coming on the 12th.
Effect.ai whitelist is open, have not researched yet...
Yggdrash whitelist is open and interesting at first look
Any more to add to the list?

Geez crypto sucks sometimes, I'm over it today.

It just sucks how reliant the whole market is on Bitcoin whatever it does the market does and it's not doing much so the others don't do anything.

The last few weeks it seems there is a real problem with volume for Bitcoin, have to wonder if it is because of there being so many cryptos now, to many pieces of the pie.

Im starting to think that Dec-Jan prices are the best we will ever see and that maybe people are right and this is a bubble, maybe it's not bursting with a bang, but is just slowly deflating :(

Indo, I expect the market to trade mostly sideways at the moment. Todays drop was caused by an over reaction to sensationalised news about a Binance hack. I feel pretty confident thet there is going to be another bull market but I’m not going to predict when, I would probably be wrong. The amount of brainpower and momentum in the space is always reassuring to me. I have taken to watching twitter lately, I have it set up to send alerts from the projects that I am interested/invested in and it is great to see how much work is being done and the excitement that it is generating amongst the devs and community.
Remember the flippening, I wish it would happen today, it will take time but it is coming. Bitcoins excessive influence is a drag but it will change sooner or later.

BTC hasn't really broken through it's resistance level of the $11/12k mark. Every time it reaches it then continues to fall back down to $9/10k. This next fall is the real test. If it continues below $9k then the low of $5/6k back in early Feb is likely to be tested further.

Credits

Huge huge fundamental error in their Alpha release. Some serious questions to be answered if you ask me considering the reported CEO comments in the private telegram chat posted earlier.

And they've already gone from their claimed (before the ICO) 1,000,000 transactions per second down to 300,000 transactions per second. That's a 66% reduction in their transaction speeds and this was a test (presumably under perfect test conditions).

https://medium.com/@credits/300k-transactions-per-second-platform-testin...

This is a long read but the findings and numerous videos/posts etc seriously does make you ask if CS isn't just one big laughing scam.

And it appears these guys are actually the fastest and did real world tests with computers across 10 different countries.
