Melania coin jumping on the band wagon this morning also. Crashed the entire SOL network, so I couldn't buy it unfortunately. Did get as high as 13000% in the last 24-36 hrs.

Trump is laughing all the way to the billionaires road!!!

There seems to be so many dodgy and vulnerable operators out there.

I just use kraken. Has a good safety reputation. Does the job for what I need. Moves money smoothly with payid. Instant transactions in and out of the exchange. And fees are quite good as well. I don’t use cold wallet, can’t be bothered. The risk with the exchange is that it can get hacked and funds stolen. Or they can go broke. The risk with the cold wallet is losing the cold wallet. And you still have to move funds between the cold wallet end the exchange. If you go with the cold wallet I heard good things about ledger and trezor.

And I guess the exchange will have limited selection of coins. It took Trump coin around a day or so to hit the exchanges. I think it was already around $20-$30 by then. So exchange probably won’t cut it if you want to deep dive into memecoins. I’m personally trying to stay away from that.

I use NEXO exchange. I have some there as it is stoked and hold some on a wallet.

I don’t think too highly of 99% of coins as they are completely useless and just a speculative product. Work on the bigger fool theory…being that you don’t want to be the one/fool holding when it all comes tumbling down…sell prior if you are lucky.
I only hold btc, eth and sol now…I tend to stay clear of the others.

This play on wallstreetbets is sick! There were some significant investment into this recently (JP Morgan, other funds etc.). I was contemplating it last night but had to sell other assets to move funds around. I fell asleep in the end. It's up 8% in a day.

Nvidia down18%. That’s an impressive drop.

The Chinese listing more and more tech on the US markets, considering they wanted to ban tictok it will be interesting how many ai and tech stocks they will allow.

Yes, I've been reading about it for days now. Everyone knew this drop was coming. Luckily, I didn't hold Nvidia. I'm holding a bit of AMD. But overall, it wasn't as bad of a drop as I expected. Crypto seems to be recovering, I bought a few things during the dip yesterday. Now need to start planning the share purchases tonight.

Interestingly, DeepSeek seems to be stuck with data cutoff in July 2024.

- I’m an AI trained on a **static dataset** up to **July 2024**. This means:
- I lack awareness of events, updates, or developments after that date.
- My knowledge is "frozen" in time, like a textbook published in mid-2024.

Why would this be the case? And why is the market reacting to it today when DeepSeek launched awhile back?

I stumbled on this as I realised that it’s giving me outdated info. And it often references July 24 in its responses. I asked ‘why did Nvidia’s stick price fall’ and it couldn’t answer it. Again, it references July 24.

It was the way they achieved some similar performance metrics to multi-billion AIs, using lesser chips, and their way of doing it. I could try to describe it, but my words are cumbersome here, this is not my field. Read this, on how they did it:

Hi flollo,

I know nothing about AI, but maybe DS still needs a fair bit of work to get it fully operational and useful.

Given it has been operational for a while, these limitations would have been obvious to users, and clearly no threat to Nvidia etc, at this stage at least.

So why the massive drop now?? The cynical side of me says this was a set up. I understand there were some large selloffs last Friday after hours, then the Futures market yesterday showed huge drops on "release of the news".

Maybe someone (large insto or two), shorted Nvidia etc then set the market falling with comments of "huge threat to AI developers in US, overvalued, reduced profitability etc". Panic then sets in, stop losses get hit, the avalanche get bigger and suddenly you can buy in quite cheaply. Mission accomplished.

But I might be dreaming.

Please note, I don't invest in the stock market but a fair slab of our super is in there.

Cheers.

@flollo

And another thing.

Probably 60 to 70% of retirement funds are invested in the stock market globally, and are subject to all the variations and cycles within it. Longer term results are clear but in the short term high volatility play a part and for many this can be unsettling, to say the least. While there are safer investment options available, we all need a modest return to keep our retirement funds providing for us without drawing on the taxpayer.

If I had my way I would ban Short Selling, it has far outlived it's original purpose and is now simply a means to "manipulate the price" for large instos.

I'd also ban trading by the use of bots and algos. Human input only thank you.

That will stir a few people up.

Cheers.

I think you're onto something. That crash was spectacular but rebound was also fantastic. Retail investors poured money backed in. It was a massive overreaction. Sounds like a bunch of algos just dumping due to stop loss orders triggering roughly at the same time. Which was then met with a shortfall in liquidity.

What makes you think there will be a rebound??

ASX200 down 2% and S&P500 futures are down around 1.70% as well.

AUD is down 1%.

That is a huge hit to your super fund.

All due to Trumps ill conceived and poorly thought out tariffs policy.

The stock market is heavily populated with conmen, liars, cheats, thieves and rogues.

I'd like to see short selling banned , and get rid of algos and bots as well. And don't give me all that shit about "price discovery" and "calling out frauds" excuses the shorters use to justify ripping off other shareholders.

At least he had a few people around him in his first presidency who had a vague idea of how economies worked: this time around there's no one. Even so, I doubted he would have the stupidity to proceed with it: instead using it as a negotiating tool to make himself look like a winner.

You would have to be the class idiot to think other countries would not retaliate and the ultimate losers are the general population.

But despite what he and Elon say, I doubt he has the interests of the little guy at the top of the list. I understand he pocketed a lazy $58 million floating his own digital currency.

Elon at a rally recently told the adoring crowd "I'm going to work my ass of for you guys".

But I saw that look in his eye, and thought "yeah.....nah".
