I did the same thing with the Israel issue, latched onto a channel or two that i realized after a while was just to over the top and too bias.
You are always going to gravitate to media that you agree with to some extent, but it becomes kind of pointless when it's so over the top total/bias that you are only hearing things you want to hear, if you aren't hearing some things you dont want to hear it's most likely just a propaganda channel.
It's hard sometimes but i even try to listen to a few sources now and then that go against my views like Al Jazera or CNN for USA politics just to get a different take or even to try understand why or how other's are seeing things differently.

I’m no expert but I thought the tariffs on Mexico & Canada were because of trade imbalances and illegal immigration . China was being blamed for the fetanyl distribution . Trump brags that the US has more oil than anyone but their refineries aren’t geared for the type they mainly use , does he plan on changing their refineries ? Trump is all about making deals so it’s going to take leaders that are very clever in their approach to dealing with his ego and at the same time not allowing him to walk over them . His biggest gripe seems to be other countries taking advantage of the US and the US losing out because of it . His supporters lap that up .
The bigger picture here is clear: corporate America needs to make stuff at home or face pain over the next 4 years. I personally have doubts about this strategy. Corporations can run a marathon while politicians need to squeeze as much as possible in their 4 year term. But at the end of the day, we have a protectionist instead of a globalist as the president of the US. This hasn’t happened in decades and the world forgot about tactics to deal with this.

As a response to imposed tariffs I would like to see countries actually enforce their accounting laws to tax big tech. Amazon, AWS, Facebook, Microsoft, Oracle Google etc etc move so much $$ transactions to other locations thus reducing their reported earnings and thus taxable earnings.
I have been charged GST (as a local Aus tax) to have something shipped from the US from eBay. Under $1k but they still charge and you can’t talk or get a response.
So you either don’t get it or just suck it up and pay the thieving dogs..and there is zero chance that so called GST is passed on to the ato.

Of course markets don’t like this idea. Markets want free, unregulated globalised trade. And low interest rates. Trump’s philosophy will bring inflationary pressures which bring higher interest rates. Many things will go up, but in theory, you might have a lot more money in your pocket. This could work for many people but low income earners would take a hit as they don’t pay much income tax anyway.
The result: US becomes very expensive (quality areas are already extremely expensive) and citizens have top net incomes in the world. But distribution of that income will be extremely uneven. Government services are cut to the bare minimum to avoid excessive deficits due to reduction of tax receipts. And those on the lower income scale take a full brunt of these policies due to increased prices, negligible tax savings and reduced public services.
He has to give exemptions to a lot of stuff coming in from Canada. Ie, The LA rebuilding will send demand and prices higher. Windows and framing will be crazy high…those with money will pay but the average everyday folk will be screwed. And Trump couldn’t care less.
It’s not looking good. Not the smartest move . Trump’s last term, Canada and Mexico signed the best trade deal and this term he now goes after them.

That seems to be the general opinion from what I've read.
In short, inflation and interest rates are market killers. Add in the removal of existing health care benefits etc for low income earners and that segment of society will suffer the most.
Trump in his first term as president had some people around him who had a good grasp of economics: not so this time around.
I'm hopeful someone will step up and convince him to be a little more realistic.

I think these things don’t matter much in day to day life. Yeah, maybe we’ll live in multipolar century but that has no major effect on the life of most citizens. Personally, I’m not giving it much of my energy. Some things will change but who cares. And some might even be better.

Ukraine looks to be a NATO embarrassing loss, but time will tell.
Could this actually strengthen resolve and strengthen BRICS? I think it may, the kids that have been bullied in the school yard for decades may come together??
The world has changed and I don't think the USA is the power it was a decade ago.
Also with these tarrifs if they go through, they will very much hurt working class Americans, they could have their own internal shit to deal with.

The only alliance that is wildly successful and that I truly have massive respect for is European Union. Will BRICS ever reach that level? I don’t think so. And we also have countries that are a part of G20 while being in BRICS. How will this work? BRICS is miles away from being anything like the EU and it’s also miles away from having currency that is on par with the USD. They can introduce a new currency but then they have to take responsibility for its stability. This is a massive undertaking. What are the actual downsides of using USD? I can’t see too many.
For further perspective, Eurodollar as it’s called are USD deposits in foreign banks. Eurodollar is not subject to US banking or FED regulation. It’s a free flowing currency. It is estimated that daily transactions in Eurodollar exceed $150B. I’ll repeat that, $150B every single day. Its real market size is hard to estimate but there is a consensus that it exceeds $10 trillion.
Now, deliberately trying to destroy this would be pretty foolish. Why? Because a country would basically go against its own banking sector. They could maybe sweeten the deal somehow but no government in the world has this kind of liquidity. There are really only 2 options here: 1) use force. This would destroy the banking sector and trigger financial crisis. 2) take time and slowly incentivise a move away from USD. This one will take decades but it will work. China will probably follow this recipe as they’re known to play the long game. But it will take a very long time.

Furthermore, why is Trump going so hard against Mexico, Canada and China? It’s simply because those countries need to trade with each other and will continue to trade with each other, tariffs or no tariffs. Yes, there are ongoing issue like fentanyl, illegal immigration but Trump wants a cut of the trade volume. And to use it for what? To replace $2.41 trillion of annual federal income tax collected. How much of that will be replaced is to be seen. He will definitely make money on it. He’s 100% committed to this idea of replacing a chunk of that revenue through tariff receipts. Followed by tax cuts.
This is ancient economics in modern sense. I lived my whole life at times of increasing globalisation. This will now definitely challenge that process and I’m not sure what the final outcome will be.
