Might as well put this up in the politics subforum, to spare the front page. It's 18 months away or so, but here we go.

This is how Dutton wins:

Totally Flollo, CNBC has been on a great run with these docos showing the US reindustrialising with high tech. Here's Micron:

You know they are actually a serious country by doing this. Doesn't matter who is President, they've been on the path for a long time. First, energy independence; then downstream things from this, like chemical production independence. Then bringing the world's renewable tech onshore, and at the same time rebuilding their tech hardware infrastructure as well as AI investment.

Meanwhile:

Again, the minister can activate the domestic gas reservation for the east coast.

So you killing it in a recession and then in a building boom. you are not.

That make's no sense.

The hassle of GST sucks but it does makes sense and many other developed countries have it, obviously the cost doesn't come out of the pocket of the tradesman but out of the pocket of the client.

BTW, there is something people overlook with GST and that's that it actually helps sole traders that are starting out or that just want a life work balance, especially those that dont want to totally retire but also dont want to work full time.

For example lets say you are a tiler that still wants to work but happy to have a turn over under 75K a year.

A sole trader that stays under the GST threshold can put a quote (without charging GST) for a job at lets say $10K ideally with the agreement the client provides materials (tiles in this case)

A bigger company paying GST even if agree's with client they provide materials (tiles) needs to put in a 10% higher price at $11K just to make the same money.

So in effect GST helps the little guy, he can actually put in a quote 10% less than the bigger company and still make the same profit that they would have if they had gotten the job.

Obviously this is easier in some areas of work than others.

Not supposed to share this...but by name & nature...tbb commits to nothing but the truth...
Crew know tbb is on disability support but it was never even once imagined...
Was always ever a Top tradie paying well above my fair share of tax...
In fact tbb built one house & bought a Town House & never once claimed any Housing Rebate.
Who else is gonna share such honesty...not any arseholes this crew ever voted for...
tbb started in 1980 > Just rounding out pay dockets for online security compliance
Same [L] Govt /Family /Kids /Career /Address /Phone / Kingswood /Employee /Builders /Accountant
1993/1994= $70,000/yr (1 Kid)
1994/1995= $50,000/yr
1996/1997= $46,400/yr
1997/1998= $51,300/yr (2 Kids)
1998/1999= $55,300/yr
1999/2000= $68,800/yr
July... 2000= Howard's GST
2000/2001= $38,100/yr (Oz #1 Builders lost 90% GC sales we scavenged 150km from other mouths)
2001/2002= $25,600/yr (tbb actually worked 3x harder & longer to earn 3x less...often sleep driving!)

Excuse tbb if no records are found from here on...Likely couldn't afford or even need an accountant.
From 14yr trade skills under Keating dropped 64% pay for being 22 years experienced under Howard.
Every tradie tbb spoke to was pissed off that only in Australia are Top Tradies considered as shit.
From Top Down look at what Howard does > Says we're his accelerator pedal or some shit...seriously!

Mobster [L] Suppliers priced out Family Trade Business + Denied our Material Receipts to us Subbies
Suppliers directed all Trade thru Slick Accountants as we stalked & chased them for our GST receipts.
Gold Tickets we called them as we spent $2-300 /wk on plaster...that's why [L] mobsters hived them.
They were wrangling 30-40 contractors $300 GST Dockets as their own GST Rebates...'our rebates'.
As said Howard upgraded [L] Salesmen as Gods (vs) Nation building Tradies as shit on White Shoes!

Also speak on behalf of Home Buyers Boom / Bust cycle led to 3-4 year build delays, threats & fights.
Any here still think tbb is having a lend or any think this is funny...It's not...record families broke up.
Perfect example of how Howard is Anti Labour, Anti Housing, Anti Small Family business,

Don't expect [L] Investors to understand what hard work is...if their hero Howard Kills off hard workers.
Watch how this GST plays out as if it's [L] Tinkerbell Dust...
1st home buyers 1993 = 22% > 2003 = 15.4% (Record low)
Home Investors...1993 = 20.3% > 2003= 44.5% (Record High)
There it is everybody knows...Howard's GST let [L]azy Greedy cunts Sponge up The Aussie Dream.

Median House prices greatest price jump under Howard's GST
Feel free to check any City / Table / Graph ya like, all points to 30-60% House price kikes 1997-2003.
Might wanna stand back as GST spike flies off the page...Oopsie! Now...That's a Fuckin' Spike!
Exactly...GST killed housing forever! See for yerselves > Any city / chart of the time is going nuts.
Kaboom...Howard at the mixing desk...twiddlin' the dial...Oopsie...'nother 5,000 + Oz dream dead.
https://mccrindle.com.au/app/uploads/images/Abelson_9_04.pdf

Household Debt > GDP (GST )2000=69.8% rising 2007=108.4% WR outta control ramp = KILLS Oz!
Always rises highest & fastest outta control under [L] govts...(Fuckin' hopeless pathetic economists)
https://tradingeconomics.com/australia/households-debt-to-gdp

Chain price index of Consumer goods & Services took off like a rocket with GST on remote Pacific Island
1986 = 29.9 points > 1996 = 45.5 points (Moderate rise now watch Howard's GST ramp Service cost)
July 2000 = 48.3 points > July 2008 = 67.7 Points (Massive [L] GST logistical blowout in less time)
Keeps soaring with GST to over 100 points as Howard's GST keeps impregnating WR supply chain.
https://tradingeconomics.com/australia/gdp-chain-price-index

Notice how both these supply indexes blow out to WR levels under [L] govts...
[L] Love GST 'cause it fuckin' curtails industrial growth...Ward off Union uprising..

Choose any data > Corresponds with Howard's Product Complexity chain slipping at WR decline...
2000 # 63 plummets 2008 #87 (GST impost on building / servicing a Massive Global embarrassment)
Further [L] Govts ban Building & Labour now plummeting to #102 beneath Nations that we bomb.
[L] Dutto is likely to Drop Oz to #120 ...that's no joke! [L] Govts own Global Complexity rank decline.
https://atlas.hks.harvard.edu/rankings

Highest Marriage break ups under Howard & Record Jump with record GST Marital Health Crisis
1998 = 2.7 > 1999 = 2.8 > 2000 =2.6 (GST= Highest Divorces) 2001 =2.9 /1,000 were ending it.
Proof that [L] Howard's GST spiked a battle of sexes by Corporatizing Families as ai [L] Tax mules
Howard : [ I stopped Families]...We decide which Voter is entitled to a Family! ( Bad luck Parents...)
(Ever since Howard's record GST Break Up period > Divorce rate receded to now 2 / 1,000)
Media praise [L] Howard as Family man > Hate filled monster Destroys families/kids in record numbers!

So if any Howard Loving losers wanna layout how GST saved Oz Housing...reminding tbb's a victim...
Please lay out yer Wage Dockets & be at least half as honest...Never gonna happen as it's Bullshit...
Howard was that useless coward that killed everything good in Australia & poisoned the World...
Of course ya get a Double LP for that but with GST we're left with this rebate that sums it up perfectly.

Not much. One can only hope your senate vote works out so the Senate isn’t too partisan.

On a state level here in Noosa Shire we have had an independent in for last two elections.
Labor have no chance in this area so it’s great that most are turning away from Liberal too.
Aberration for the Sunshine Coast though that is full Liberal state and federally.

Australia cant compete in many area because we have priced ourselves out of things

BTW. She obviously was born rich, but it was millions(75 millions) not billions she inheriated, her father left a bankrupt estate and things were in very bad shape business wise.

All this tripe about her being stupid is just garbage, she is a very successful smart business women she is worth more than 300 times what she inherited.

The bomb shell is Mr Romper Stomper Potato Head has promised to be their best friend and do exactly as he’s told if they’re re elected. So even though Labor appears t capitulate quite a lot the coalition seems to be prepared to just be figureheads doing the mining industry’s political work.

Also spoils from the biggest mining boom (iron ore) in Australia's history.
The same one that if we had a sovereign wealth fund and we properly taxed our resource industry we would be an incredibly more wealthy society than what we are now, which is indeed very wealthy.

CERTAINLY no Gina parasites or Howards in Norway. how cool in Norway's Government Pension Fund Global (Future Fund/sovereign wealth fund) something like $2 trillion, $340,000 per citizen, legislated they can only access 3% or so per year... they're 98% renewables from hydro, and paid for it all by selling fossil fuels to the world.. reckon they'll be right.

hating on gina is sport for a certain cohort...

and probably rightly so after her wish to import workers on $2 an hour

but she's clearly not as dumb as some portray her...

she also doesn't come across as anything close to a deep thinking, thoughtful, caring, intellectual brainiac either...

and when I saw that photo of her with elon, I really wondered what the hell they were actually chatting about?

'the lucky country' perhaps...

(elon's mind was... I'm sure of that...)

but, it's pretty clear what they would be chatting about...

the world... the sordid state of things... and the paradigm shifting change that just unfolded...

it's traditional left versus right fodder, for the left to blindly support extensive governance, rollout of 'rules', and a supposedly healthy public service

whilst the right argues the cutting of red tape, small government, and a freedom that facilitates innovation...

apparently...

pick ya corners

the different territory we're in now, is a large part of community doesn't feel served by an ever expanding governance - a governance that constantly builds on that the came before, tinkering, adding, and expanding...

without cutting

anything...

at all...

people, business, and entrepreneurial types, feel stifled and inhibited... by an ever expanding monolith...

and this goes to the points of vj in the US thread - the vibe shift

and this is what gina and friends are tapping into...

whether you feel it's justified or not... it's there to be tapped...

bottom line is, people don't feel better off, they don't feel their lives were getting better, and they most certainly don't feel served by the seemingly inane proclivities of the contemporary left...

spiked, is a bit spikey...

but this paragraph captures the feeling of the absolute mindlessness of the recent history

the absolute waste of energy

waste of resources

and, by extension... absolute waste of our best and brightest...

'...A decisive death knell for identity politics dangles the blessed possibility of no longer squandering our brief duration on this Earth on stupid conversations. One of the grimmest victories of today’s poor excuse for ‘progress’ has been to lure otherwise intelligent people into having debates over whether: women can have penises; racial discrimination cures racism; advancement in employment and education should be determined by skin colour; the Western civilisation that gave us penicillin, Rembrandt, Bach and the Hubble Space Telescope is a disgrace; being grotesquely fat is healthy; and wearing a sombrero that you bought yourself on Amazon is theft. Friends, the folks who’ve really been stealing – and high-value items: our precious time, energy and attention – are the doctrinal morons who’ve roped us into addressing these painfully self-evident questions. Countless essays and columns on my hard drive are embarrassments. I have devoted whole afternoons to seriously considering whether a mass movement to sterilise children and cut off their healthy body parts is a good idea..."

and perhaps most importantly, waste of political capital

and, exhibit B

this is canada, but I'd love someone to do a similar investigation into australia

but there's no need really...

we already know the outcome

trouble is, that when monolithic western governments get blindsided by something like this 'cost of living crisis' and the 'housing crises' that are sweeping the western world...

crises... that all those departments, economists, experts, and desk warmers didn't see coming...

people just go what the fuck!

are you doing...

have you been doing...

and even when governments do belatedly do something... like albo and his billions and billions of dollars of promises...

it doesn't even scratch the surface

barely an additional house has even been built...

Gina & Elon want red tape cut so that they can do what they like , when they like , however they like . Sure Australia is over governed but don’t be fooled into thinking Gina & Spud want what’s best for Australia . Labor may not be doing as much as you want them too but the alternative would be a financial disaster for the Aussie taxpayer .

if they discuss these things in pubs or at the beach, I have no problem with it @syp. But no-one is. No-one is talking about these things in shops, schools, concert halls, basketball stadiums, worksites or boardrooms. I think the joke in the quote above is that the biggest waste of energy, resources and our best and brightest is engaging with divisive porn on twitXfaceTok.

the departments basesix

it's about the never ending conga line of departments...

and yes, the never ending middle class petty grievance wars on twitter and the like...

that divert attention and resources away from what really matters

the biggest bane of the contemporary left is that the working class now have a computer in their pocket, and can get involved, engaged...

irony much?

they get censored, edited, blocked, and blue ticked out of the conversation...

but it doesn't make them go away

that just makes the ruling classes 'experience' more pleasant...

sounds interesting... so you think that what the working classes are getting incensed by, involved and engaged with is just as much off-point algorithm bollocks as it is genuine shit. The net dissatisfaction (and consuming) being fantastic for economic puppeteers?

getting a bit conspiratorial there basesix

but I have seen reasonable people make such an argument...

once again, I prefer to put it down to gold old self interest

invested interest...

self preservation...

the boom in positions available is pretty self evident

decades and decades of university gender studies, critical race theory, post-colonialism, and even the environment and the like has created it's own self serving industries...

I'm not saying these issues should not be studied, but the emphasis has gone seriously wayward of late

meanwhile china and the like, focus on the 'hard sciences'

real science?

here's an example I'm sure can relate to, it is the US, and I couldn't find the graph was searching for, but experience oz is very similar...

any normal person, any real teacher... knows smaller class sizes and more teachers leads to better outcomes...

but look where the never ending screaming for more resources has gone

been consumed...

as to the conspiratorial thinking...

it's not unreasonable

but once again, I prefer to put it down to self interest...

invested interest

the associated ngo mega complex that has developed... (as billionaires endeavour to sway opinion... (and avoid paying taxes)

is just plain fucking rogue...

the soros mega complex, seems more than willing to facilitate the most nefarious of ember stoking

if it suits their 'cause'...

and the payroll just lap it up

'captured democracy'

lobby groups and the like are the real problem

modern politics is dominated by em

I don't give a shit if its elon musk or alex soros...

the ngo, 'think tank', focus group, consultancy culture, outsourcing of government responsibility mega complex is the problem...

whether it's about energy, gender, big pharma, or whatever...

governments don't call the shots anymore

big capital does...

musk, soros, blackrock, vanguard, wef, imf, etc...

are the real governments of the modern world

4 or 5 decades ofl neoiberalism made it so...

Goodness gracious, we've just had a referendum on it. It's pervasive. Universities and high schools are pushing it with a vengeance. The media is absolutely splintered and absorbed by it. In corporate boardrooms there's a palpable sense of urgency about the matter; it's quite clear that corporate PR agencies have taken up the mantle of activism for it all. It's become the central political debate, and I daresay, the recent U.S. election hinged on it all. Movies and sporting teams these days are just infused with it to the point of maximum cringe. It's as if it's become the graffiti scrawled across the canvas of our society.
