Australia - you're standing in it
I'm with @Indo, the sooner we can just get rid of any elected politician that does or says something he doesn't like the sooner we become the dumbocracy he wants to live in, these uppity blak women are just a real problem, they just don't know their place.
Mentioned it yesterday but clear evidence from scientific studies suggest that those that live with a disproportionate level of anxiety and fear are more prone to advocating for authoritarian measures and having police or military using strong arm tactics.
Interesting article on fear and it's relationship to right-wing orientation.
Only 8 pages which is less than the low info some people post in one day here.

For someone who has commented so much on freedom of speech and wokeism in these forums over the years ID, you sound very much like a conservative-dad-ultra-cop.
It's pretty simple you dont reward bad behaviour, doing so only encourages further bad behaviour.
It has nothing to with freedom of speech.
BTW. Im a pretty liberal, easy going, care free parent, my wife though, she's the typical Asian tiger mum.
You forgot to mention the Dad bod Indo.
Ha ha yep dad bod too.
Ah. Bloody bless ya Indo.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) found that since Rex suspended its jet operations between metropolitan cities across 11 routes and entered administration, the average airfare on all major city routes increased by 13.3% in the quarter to September 2024.'

Hi Vj,
LVO is merely an apologist for the LNP, so you wouldn’t expect any different.
He accuses Chalmers of misleading statements on the economy, inflation, wage growth and housing, but LVO himself is happy to be a little “economical” with the truth. I have made several comments on his YouTube posts correcting his “facts”, all of which he will not dispute, but he continues to make false and incorrect statements, regardless.
Democracy is built on the right to “Free Speech”, but any democracy which allows lies and deceit to flourish under the guise of Free Speech, will ultimately implode.
Cheers.
So you're OK with the Misinformation/Disinformation bill?
velocityjohnno wrote:So you're OK with the Misinformation/Disinformation bill?
There are several issues in my life which rate substantially higher, so I am not particularly fussed.
Suffice to say most of the bleating is coming from the Right, which tells me they see themselves as the "victim" in all of this.
While the extent of this bill is yet to be resolved it appears Right believe they have the most to lose.
And that is not without some justification: during the leadup to last years referendum the LNP were extremely vocal in labelling a proposal (after years of discussion), produced by them whilst in Government, as "Labor's Racist Voice".
After their conduct during "The Voice" Referendum, I can understand why they oppose the bill.
In my opinion they are serial and compulsive liars: honesty and integrity are not their strong points.
Cheers.
When government determines which information is approved, it risks knocking the props from underneath a functioning democracy, taking out the 4th pillar, which is the ability of the free press to discuss - even criticise, ridicule - policy and news.
This one isn't 'left' or 'right', please try to see it through a different lens.
Don't take my word for it, here's Australia's Human Rights Commissioner's take on the draft legislation:

Hi Vj,
I’m fully aware that it is not a “Left or Right issue”, and that the ramifications will be felt across society as a whole. The examples I gave were two which came immediately to mind.
I am fully supportive of the right to free speech and the right to discuss and criticise. But with that right comes the obligation to be truthful and honest. Call me a dreamer if you wish.
Quoting your own “facts” knowing that many who read them will not or cannot check the veracity is bordering on deceit.
I’ve made LVO aware of his errors and omissions, having quoted his own sources to him. He didn’t change anything and still quotes the same: and obviously he doesn’t care. Some publicity, a few hits on YouTube and he think’s he’s famous.
The Legislation will most likely never see the light of day, but I’ll never blame the ALP for trying.
Cheers.
G O is turning in his grave.
More straight-up Real Talk for Adam, since he asked for it:
Every debate, discussion or argument trying to get to the facts is gonna be full of half-truths and messed-up logic. No scientific theory gets everything right—science is all about making guesses, running experiments, testing against what we find, admitting when things don’t add up, coming up with new ideas, and repeating the whole process.
So, every argument, every debate, every scientific theory or hypothesis is at least a little flawed, partially wrong, and technically misinformation. If disinformation laws applied to everything, then practically everything anyone’s ever written or said would count as disinformation, and everyone—past, present, and future—would need to be locked up just for speaking their mind.
The laws can be enforced totally on a whim.
Basically, all debate’s gotta be shut down.
This is what they want to achieve.

green room. Hi. Whoever you are.
I just pulled out my AI text scanner, just completed running all of Swellnet’s data base through the machine.
Your writings are very similar to a poster who was known as Blowin.
I’m just saying. AW
I had my money on blowin but indo’s pretty sure it’s GSCO , I don’t think blowin would post a link like this with this line up unless he’s taking the piss . There’s a few familiar faces in their advisory board . https://www.arcforum.com/advisory-board

Supafreak. Hi mate.
I think you’re totally correct. My error.
From memory, Blowin always uploaded from the internet.
In the aforementioned post above there’s no upload.
Think Indo may be correct.
All the best. How’s the teeth settling in ? AW

Geez. What a motley crew on that board.
All share something in common. I don’t think any of them are struggling for a dollar ? Hmmm. AW
I’m pretty sure Stu exposed Blowin as a second poster Green Room for something like imagine a grown man posting under a new name to push his changing political stance. Not verbatim.

You'd have to imagine blowin, if he hasn't already via greenroom, would have to return in some form or another. There's no was someone possessing that incredible amount of undeserved ego could permanently stay away from all the sycophantic dickriders he has around these parts.

Oh, you’re Swellnet’s Einstein, and to think you are only using approximately 15% of your brains overall capabilities.

I’m no scholastic giant, but I would’ve thought that someone who hasn’t done their ‘homework’ and by close of day be lodging it late, wouldn’t qualify as being Einstein.
