^ wooah @Supa! rivals the chicken church near borobudur!
Who parked the boat there?
Last night was clear.
Sick Blackers!
Well done blackers , @B6 , I came across 2 really big churches within a couple klms of each other and the Ark from your video was a little bit further up . When you look at their houses , then compare them to the money it would have cost to build these churches , it’s quite unbelievable. Unlike Bali , the roads are wide and everything is spread out with very large blocks of land . A very relaxed atmosphere with many old bule’s getting around, pretty friendly vibes in the water. Rain’s coming again .

Love ya work mate. AW
Cheers AW. Right back at you for the images over in the botany thread. That Azolla shot is magical. Makes me want to head back up that way again, sooner rather than later.
And thanks to you Supa, your comment about the harvest moon made me get off my butt and shoot a few images. Would probably not have thought about it otherwise.
hey blackers, were you saying you are island bound?
basesix wrote:hey blackers, were you saying you are island bound?
Yes, arriving Monday.
brings joy to my heart, if you are gonna do the walk that I think you are.
world's end. where bonney's upwelling fans out toward the bight.
you will be looking at a hungry water, that's calmly waiting.. have a blast.
(and yeh, interesting forecast, hope you have Tues morning dialled in)
First time visit so open to any suggestions. I assume you are talking if the light station walk?
gonna grab me some low tide this eve, before tomorrow's wind escalation,
doing paperwork and watching tellybision through lunch,
let me know if you pop past @blackers, for some island talk.

fig tree next time! excellent! snellings for a swim, george turner's castle is worth it, emu bay is obvious, vivonne will be actually good while you are there, KI gin is boring (especially their gin that is flavoured with weeds that tastes like weeds), as are the marron and even the birds (sorry AW), kingscote is astonishing (in the same was Oz is and people find it weird we are a kicking about down here), but, yeh, anything you can do to go west and have a play or think. as real as it gets! have the big fun!
Nice sunset AW.
Blackers. If you haven’t been before. Red Tailed Black Cockatoos fly east west both ways in a day, scoping out trees that bear large seeds.
Also, Stokes Bay Beach and the half a billion year old natural swimming pool at the beach, but not before the surprise to actually get to that beach from the car park, I won’t spoil it for you , just duck your head.
Safe travels and enjoy. AW

Seeds. Hi mate. Thanks, took the snaps while watching Rainbow Bee Eaters.
Moments earlier a White Bellied Sea Eagle and earlier today at Agnes Point, an Osprey. I hope you’re cruising.
Pretty hard to leave Agnes/1770, nice places.
Ive been out early 5,00am most days, have been in forests , national Parks, estuaries etc. Lots of good biodiversity and intact systems.
A local surfer took me to a few little secret spots just south of town, one in particular, very nice set up, swell coming Wednesday apparently.
Weather is awesome, bloody hot for Spring. I luv it. AW
You may even get a springs in your step down those steps if a few little waves roll in.
Find memories of Agnes and 1770. Got some fun waves on the point at Agnes and watched the Osprey hunting. Enjoy it AW. Thanks for suggestions.
ps. If 4WD you can drive south through Deepwater NP Then back on bitumen down past Rules Beach area to Bundaberg.
Coastal emus in that area.

You are very clever, it was sublime there at 6am, everything was good except for swell, odd half a footer rolled in with no wind and no surfers but you could see the potential. AW

I commenced driving into that park today in 4WD,, but the rutted sand was near impossible. Another day another trip in another car. AW

Safe travels.
Love Agnes/1770.
Good fishing.
Coastal emus are a good sign there's no drop dolphins around.
Hehehe
Body slamming oceanic tree dwellers.
It was another very poor snow season in Australia, with a rapid warming and melt cycle seen after a small window of good snow in August.
It's been two years since I've been out back so I was very pleased to get a window Friday afternoon through Saturday just past.
The coverage was well down on what's usually expected at this time of year but the corn snow quality was great, even following 100mm of rain - and a 5-10cm dusting.
Sitting up top of Australia looking at the setting sun over Victoria never gets old, as does playing in such a pristine, unique environment.
Here are a couple of shots.. (look closely bottom middle of the 4th shot for some perspective).
^ this is wholesome stuff @Craig
… certainly making the most of it, well done ;)
@Craig , love ya work , what an awesome “ ice bath “ what was the water temperature roughly ?
It came straight from here so must just be above 0°C.
After a few seconds the pain was real!
BRRRRrrrrrrrrr ! Looking forward to your indo notes update , a yachtie I met said there’s a 3.2 metre swell due on Saturday . I said all the forecasts I’ve seen hadn’t mentioned it being that big and he said the site he used but I can’t remember it .

Supa, basic forecasting for indo is pretty straight forward as the swells take days to arrive and you can use WA daily surf reports to see what's to come.
I always use windguru as a guide: https://www.windguru.cz/185336 you gotta look at the swell angles for either side of the island or Lembongan.
Ok burleigh can you give me your forecast for this coming Saturday for the Nusa Tenngarra region please and I will get back to you on your accuracy ? Cheers

Hahaha , not saying boo about this one on social media.

Were you the skier or boarder?
Nothing like hiking up and skiing/boarding down.
But then we love an unusual Antarctic
warming event, when it produced good waves a couple of months back .
RK, both splitboarders, great efficient access, when mostly skinning. Otherwise hard yards boot packing up the stepper stuff.
And Superbank is now
Soupy holes
And despite the promotion of
“ Climate change denialism “
By the US Republican Party,
@ Burleigh still wants them to win ?
Juliang this is a thread for photos, not politics or otherwise.
Woo sorry couldn’t find the title
I thought it was the weird things thread

Two points.
1. Craig, great photos and interesting dialogue from yourself. Love it.
2, Juliang fuck off that political shit on a PHOTOS thread please, you are moving into threads like an amoebic bacteria, in particular Naegleria fowleri. AW
Hey @craig, always been inspired by your backcountry Aussie images. I have ticked many things of my list in my life but have never man powered up mountains to slide back down. Need to get there one day and closer now with family in Canberra.
I still have split boarding Lyngen Alps in Norway on a bucket list i wrote in a journal at least 10 years ago.
Thanks guys, and Roystein, yeah easy access from Canberra, a bit of a mission from Sydney but still doable.
That ice bath Craig, I just couldn't do it how do you get in do you do a slide in of just plunge and hold your breath?
In semi lockdown I'm finally sorting through a lifetime of photos and inspired by what Craig and Andy recently posted I thought why not.
We travel a fair bit and there has to be some crackers in the vaults.
Good if we follow the Swellnet tradition of not naming or being too obvious.
