Recap

Not much to recap over the wekeend, with Sat seeing onshore winds and small swells, although we did see a kick in size to 3-5ft in the SW during the day. That size held into Sun but onshore winds hampered wave quality. Back to small and clean this morning with 2-3ft of surf in the SW, tiny elswhere with light SE winds early now tending W’ly as a front approaches the SW corner.

This week and next week (Nov4 - Nov 15)

Not a great deal of quality expected this week as a nagging onshore flow impacts the region as a front and SW flow affect the region. We’ll see an improvement at the end of the week along with some sizey S/SW swell.

In the short run expect onshore winds through tomorrow and an increase in SW swell up to 5-6ft with bigger sets, smaller 2-3ft in the north, from a fetch of gales over the weekend between 70-100E.

Persistent gales following the primary fetch aimed up at WA (see below) and tracking NE towards the state supply plenty of follow-up energy of a similar size into Wed with winds holding from the W/SW-SW. There should be enough energy for some waves at the more sheltered bays between the Capes and smaller onshore 2-3ft surf in the north.

Expect easing swells from 5-6ft to 4-5ft Thurs with onshore SW-S winds. Winds should back down during the a’noon allowing some bumpy but more exposed reefs to come into play.

A polar low flares up as it approaches a more southern point of the WA swell window Wed, with gales to severe gales expected.

That will generate a sizey S/SW swell expected to fill in Fri, with a small pulse of more SW swell in front of it. Expect size to show to 5-6ft in the a’noon with some bigger 8ft sets across exposed reefs and 2ft surf in the North. Winds should finally improve with light SE breezes as high pressure slips under the state.

Those winds extend into Sat morning with size holding to 5-6ft but easing during the day.

Easing swells Sun with light E-SE winds for the early, tending S’ly through the day.

Into next week and a moderate strength low with gales aimed towards WA tracks NE towards the state Sun/Mon. Under current modelling we’d expect easing swells Tues with a pulse of SW swell to 6-8ft at exposed reefs on Wed. Winds look to shift SW again Wed as the edge of the front associated with the low tips the state.

Check back Wed for the latest.

Seeya then.
