Recap

The surf eased back through yesterday with funky winds in the South West, tiny and clean to the north, still 2-3ft across the South West today and cleaner.

This week and weekend (Mar 28 - 31)

Moving into tomorrow and we've got a slight lift in mid-period SW swell expected across the South West, generated by pre-frontal W/NW winds to the east of the Heard Island region. This should provide 4ft sets across the South West magnets with tiny waves to the north.

Winds are a little funky and look variable across the South West, adding lumps to the mix, deteriorating into the afternoon as sea breezes develop.

We then look towards our large mix of W/SW groundswell and mid-period energy for Friday/Saturday.

The strong but not overly significant frontal system linked to the swells has pushed high up into the Indian Ocean, with initial gale-force winds now giving way to sub-gales as it projected eastwards towards us.

We should see the groundswell forerunners arriving Friday, building strongly later in the day but peaking Saturday morning to 8ft on the sets across the South West, 3ft Mandurah and 2ft+ in Perth.

A light E/NE-NE offshore is due Friday morning across the South West, SE to the north, with Saturday seeing less favourable but light to moderate S/SE winds across most locations, giving into strong SW sea breezes.

Sunday will see stronger S/SE winds as the W/SW swell eases back from 5-6ft in the South West, 2ft Mandurah and 1-2ft across Perth.

The rest of the week looks smaller as the swell continues to fade with strong E/SE offshores on Monday, best in the South West, E'ly Tuesday but small and fading.

Later in the week some new mid-period SW swell is on the cards, generated by strengthening polar frontal activity around and east of the Heard Island region but we'll review this Friday.
