Recap

Conditions were bumpy and average across the South West yesterday while a tiny increase in windswell was seen to the north along with early cross-shore winds that shifted more onshore as the day progressed.

Today looks much better with a fun pulse of mid-period SW swell under offshore winds in the South West, coming in around 4-5ft, while Perth and Mandurah were cleaner but still tiny though surfable.

Fun pulse today

This week and next (Nov 9 - 17)

Tomorrow will be a lay day as today's swell eases and a cold fronts brings a strong SW tending S/SW change to all locations.

The frontal system will be attached to a broad, healthy low that's currently south-west of us, generating a broad fetch of strong SW winds with a slim fetch of embedded gales at its core. This is a touch better looking than Monday's forecast.

The low will weaken on approach to us, with a final front clipping the south of the state Friday, though more so eastern regions.

The swell looks a bit stronger on paper now and peaking to 6-8ft across the South West on Friday, undersized early, while Mandurah should build to 2ft to occasionally 3ft, 2ft+ in Perth.

Winds are still not ideal and best for protected spots with a moderate to fresh S/SE'ly in the morning, strengthening and tending S/SW through the afternoon as the swell peaks.

Saturday still looks good as winds shift around to the SE through the morning along with easing surf from the 6ft+ range in the South West, 2ft+ Mandurah and 2ft Perth. Strong S/SE sea breezes are due in the South West, more S'ly to the north.

A more noticeable easing trend is then due on Sunday from a small 3-4ft in the South West, tiny to the north and with strong E/SE morning winds before S/SE sea breezes kick in again.

Into early next week, a small pulse of reinforcing S/SW groundswell is due, generated by a late forming polar front to our south-southwest on Friday.

A small kick to 3-4ft is due across the South West through the day with strong E/SE morning winds, shifting S/SE again into the afternoon.

Similar pulses of small background S/SW energy are due from fronts skirting around a strong blocking high sitting under the state, but only impacting the South West magnets, tiny across Perth and Mandurah.

Winds will be strong but persistent out of the E/SE-SE through the mornings.

Longer term the outlook is slower so make the most of the coming swells.
