Recap

Clean conditions with 2-3ft surf in the South West yesterday morning, similar this morning but a little more lumpy. To the north a trough brought onshore winds and tiny 1ft sets out of the west.

This week and weekend (Mar 11 - 17)

A touch more energy is due into tomorrow, that being background SW swell to 3ft+ across the South West magnets and conditions should be clean through the morning with a light SE'ly that might tend E/SE at times.

Less favourable winds are due into Sunday but with easing surf from tomorrow.

We then look at the largeish mid-period W/SW swell due into early next week, with the low linked to it currently to the north of the Heard Island region.

A fetch of strong W/SW winds will be slowly projected towards us over the coming days, before dipping east-southeast while strengthening Sunday afternoon.

We should see building surf through Monday afternoon, peaking Tuesday to a good 6-8ft across the South West, 2-3ft in Mandurah and 2ft across Perth.

Winds on Monday as the swell starts to build look S/SE ahead of sea breezes, with a window of lighter winds now due Tuesday morning as the swell peaks. A morning E/NE-NE breeze should be seen in the South West, S/SE to the north ahead of relatively weak sea breezes.

Wednesday looks dicey as the swell eases though with moderate W/NW winds across the South West, fun to the north and light offshore.

A trough will bring a strong S/SE change on Thursday along with a fun pulse of mid-period SW swell. This will be generated by a fetch of strong SW winds on the backside of the low projecting towars us. The surf looks best Friday though as it eases from 3-4ft with E/SE winds. Further north Perth and Mandurah look to be tiny.

Longer term the outlook remains slim with smaller swells but favourable morning winds. More on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
