Fun waves to end the week, a slight improvement for the weekend
Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 6th November)
Best Days: Thursday morning, Friday morning in the South West, keen surfers Saturday morning at South West swell magnets, early Sunday, protected spots Monday morning
Recap
No real swell yesterday morning with onshore winds across the South West, cleaner to the north but tiny. A new swell built into the afternoon but with poor conditions, better today with a large new SW groundswell. The South West remain less than ideal with S'ly winds, best in protected spots, cleaner and to 3ft in Mandurah, 2-3ft in Perth.
This week and weekend (Nov 7 - 10)
Today's large SW groundswell should peak through the day and start to ease through tomorrow and conditions are now looking better across the South West. A SE offshore is now due (instead of S/SE) with easing 6ft+ surf, and clean easing 2ft to possibly 3ft waves in Mandurah, 2ft+ in Perth.
An even better E/SE offshore is expected across the South West on Friday morning but the swell will be smaller and fading from the 4ft range, tiny to the north.
Saturday still looks small but fun on the magnets with a low point in swell through the morning under an E/NE offshore.
Our long-range and inconsistent W/SW groundswell for later in the day and more so Sunday is still on track with the strong frontal progression linked to it currently weakening south-east of Madagascar.
The swell will be inconsistent but should provide waves around 6ft in the South West, if not for the odd bigger sneaker, 2ft+ in Mandurah and 2ft in Perth on Sunday and winds are looking a little more favourable as a mid-latitude low moving in from the west stalls slightly.
We may see light S'ly winds across the South West in the morning now, N/NW further north, with deteriorating conditions into the afternoon as onshore winds strengthen.
A small mid-period swell is expected to be in the mix on Monday as the W/SW groundswell eases and the weakening low/trough will move further east bringing strong S/SE winds.
Wednesday will be cleaner but smaller.
Longer term there's nothing too significant on the cards besides mid-period swell, but more on this Friday.
