Recap

Very large and bumpy across the South West Saturday, better around Mandurah and to 3-4ft, lumpy and 3ft in Perth.

Sunday was much cleaner with the swell still large across the South West with winds out of the S/SE, 3-4ft and peaky across Mandurah, 3ft and bumpy in Perth.

This morning the swell eased off a bit more but was still a great size across all locations with excellent offshore winds.

This week and weekend (Sep 17 - 22)

Our current swell will continue to drop through tomorrow and winds look dicey, possibly early S/SE across Margs, better to the north but with smaller 3-4ft waves, 1-1.5ft Mandurah and Perth. Winds will swing onshore quickly after dawn.

Our large new groundswell into Wednesday through the end of the week is still on the cards, with a late pulse of long-period S/SW groundswell tomorrow, peaking Wednesday morning due to be followed by up by a stormy and windy swell Thursday.

The long-period groundswell will be generated by a strong polar low that's formed late in our swell window, south-southwest of us last night.

The size off this swell will be limited, with it coming in around 8ft Wednesday morning across the South West, 2ft in Mandurah, and 1-2ft Perth, but strengthening W/NW winds will create poor conditions.

This strengthening W/NW breeze will be associated with a vigorous polar front projecting up and towards us tomorrow and Wednesday, with an afternoon increase in windswell due ahead of a large, windy SW tending S/SW swell Thursday through Friday.

Size wise, Margs should reach 10-12ft Thursday, 3-4ft Mandurah and Perth along with gusty S/SW winds (S/SE early around Perth).

Friday looks better with a morning S/SE breeze across the South West, great E/SE offshore winds to the north and easing surf from the S/SW from 10ft+ in the South West, 3ft+ Mandurah and Perth.

The weekend is looking much better with offshore E'ly winds ahead of sea breezes and easing 6ft to possibly 8ft sets in the South West, 2-3ft further north Saturday, smaller Sunday.

Longer term there's nothing too significant on the cards through next week but winds will be light and favourable with a couple of fun moderate-large SW swells. More on this Wednesday though.
