This weekend and next week (Apr 27 – May 3)
As touched on in the past two updates, the weekend isn't looking too flash, but in saying this there should be a window of fun conditions across spots that like a bit of north in the wind across the South West tomorrow morning.
An early E/NE-NE breeze is expected with easing sets from 4ft or so, bumpy into the afternoon as winds swing more N'ly. Mandurah will only likely be 1-2ft, with 1-1.5ft sets in Perth.
Sunday will be smaller and very average with a freshening N/NE'ly, tending N/NW-NW into the afternoon.
A new W/SW swell is due to build Sunday afternoon and peak Monday morning, generated by a strong though short-lived mid-latitude storm north of Heard Island, but winds will be onshore and S/SW across all locations. In any case Mandurah and Perth should see sets to 2ft, 4-5ft in the South West.
Our better W/SW swell for Tuesday is still on track with a longer lived mid-latitude storm that's currently forming in the Heard Island region due to produce a slow moving and strengthening fetch of W/SW winds through our western swell window - followed by a tight fetch of severe-gales produced through our south-western swell window.
A large W/SW tending SW groundswell should be seen arriving overnight Monday and peaking through Tuesday to 8-10ft in the South West, 3ft in Mandurah and 2-3ft in Perth.
Winds should improve into Tuesday and swing S/SE-SE across all locations through the morning, while Wednesday looks the pick with easing 6-8ft sets in the South West, 2-3ft in Mandurah and 2ft in Perth with a fresh offshore E-E/NE offshore.
Beyond this there's nothing too significant on the cards but we'll have a closer look at this on Monday. Have a great weekend!
