This weekend and next week (Dec 15 – 21)

Late today we should see a new long-period SW groundswell starting to show on the coast, with it generated by a strong polar low through the middle of this week.

A peak is due tomorrow morning to 8-10ft across the South West magnets, 3ft in Mandurah and 2ft in Perth but winds will be an issue. A fresh to strong S-S/SE breeze will limit the best conditions to protected spots across the South West, with S/SW winds further north around Mandurah and Perth.

Sunday is looking cleaner now as a developing low swings winds SE across the South West, but it looks like Perth and Mandurah will remain average with S/SE breezes.

Size wise the swell will be easing back from 2-3ft in Perth and Mandurah with a S/SW windswell in the mix, and down from 4-6ft across Margs.

Monday will be smaller again as winds revert back to the S/SE leaving no real decent surfing options.

As touched on last update, there's nothing really of significance on the cards for next week with benign storms moving through the Southern Ocean.

Small background mid-period swells are due from Wednesday through the end of the week, but only surfable around Margs, with tiny waves to the north. Pulses between 3ft to sometimes 4ft are due but winds are looking more favourable and offshore from the E/SE most mornings. Later Wednesday and Thursday are looking biggest with a good chance for 5ft sets, and looking longer term there's still nothing of significance due.

Have a great weekend!
