Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 8th March)

Best Days: No good days besides possibly late morning Sunday

Recap

Average surf the last couple of days with tiny waves around Perth and small bumpy conditions around Margs.

This week and weekend (Mar 9 - 12)

As talked about the last few updates, we're looking at a very slow period ahead with a large blocking high across the central and eastern Indian Ocean, keeping our swell window very quite.

The surf will continue to ease through tomorrow and Friday, bottoming out through Saturday with fresh and gusty morning SE breezes.

A lighter and straighter E/NE breeze is due Sunday morning and a very inconsistent SW groundswell is due to build through the day, but expecting the swell to reach 2-3ft before winds go onshore in the South West is a stretch.

Next week onwards (Mar 14 onwards)

We're looking at a good pulse of SW groundswell early next week, generated by an intense polar low firing up to our south-west Friday and Saturday.

A fetch of gale to severe-gale W'ly winds should produce a moderate to large sized SW groundswell pulse, building to 5-6ft Monday afternoon, peaking overnight and easing Tuesday.

Winds will unfortunately be onshore though with an approaching cold front, generating SW tending W/NW breezes.

This frontal system has been upgraded in recent runs, moving in from the west early next week before deepening into a stalling low south-southwest of us during the middle of next week.

A large W/SW tending S/SW groundswell may be seen, but with average onshore winds as it lingers in our region. We'll have another look at this Friday.
