Poor period ahead
Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 6th March)
Best Days: No good days
Recap
A poor start to the weekend with small to tiny amounts of swell along with an onshore wind. A new SW groundswell due yesterday started slow with 3ft waves around Margs, pulsing through the day as winds improved mid-late morning.
This morning the swell was back to a less consistent 4ft on the exposed reefs, while Mandurah reported good 2ft waves with offshore winds. Perth was a little smaller.
This week and weekend (Mar 7 - 12)
The last two days were supposed to be the best of the current period, and with an easing trend now expected from here, the outlook isn't good at all.
Winds tomorrow will be less favourable across Margs and from the S/SE during the morning with inconsistent easing 3-4ft sets. Tiny waves will be seen to the north.
Wednesday will be smaller with gusty S/SE-SE winds, limiting options on the coast, with stronger SE winds Thursday, E/SE Friday.
The cyclone forming off Madagascar mentioned last update looks to push into their coast, resulting in no swell for us, and with this we'll have to rely on small inconsistent SW groundswell energy from the western Indian Ocean.
This will be a result of a large blocking high setting up across the eastern and central Indian Ocean, blocking and steering away and major frontal systems.
Size wise, we're not expected to see much above a very infrequent 3-4ft with the best pulses through next week. Winds should be variable and favourable but we'll have to have another look at this Wednesday.
