Best Days: Friday morning, Saturday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning
Recap
The surf eased off a bit more quicker than expected yesterday but conditions were good for most of the day across all coasts, best in the South West size wise.
Today the surf has steadied around a good 4-5ft in the South West with a straighter and fresh offshore at dawn, while Mandurah and Perth were tiny.
This week and weekend (Jan 19 – 22)
Tomorrow is still looking like a lay day with smaller surf and S/SW winds as a weakening low linked to Friday's swell clips the South West of the state.
Our swell for Friday is looking good, with satellite observations picking up a good fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds aimed towards us, with a couple of 50kt barbs thrown in for good measure.
This SW swell which is expected to peak Friday morning should come in around 6ft+ in the South West and 2ft in Perth, easing steadily through the day and further into Saturday.
A small reinforcing SW swell will stop the easing trend Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
Conditions should become much cleaner Friday as well, with a ridge of high pressure moving in, resulting in light E/SE winds across Margs and Perth ahead of S/SW sea breezes.
Saturday morning is looking clean around Perth with a light E/NE offshore, while Margs is a little tricky with a light SE'ly the most likely.
Sunday will be less favourable with a S/SE breeze and tiny surf around Perth, along with 3-4ft sets in the South West.
Next week onwards (Jan 23 onwards)
Our mid-period SW swell due for Monday is looking a little average, with the low generating it not really seeing the fetch reaching gale-force, but the projection towards us is favourable.
A consistent 4-6ft of swell is likely Monday but with onshore S/SW winds as the weak front clips the state. Perth may see 1-2ft sets.
Tuesday is the day to surf though with with an offshore E/SE wind and easing 4-5ft sets in the South West (1-1.5ft Perth).
Longer term a similar sized SW swell is on the cards for late next week, but more on this Friday.
