Best Days: Saturday out of the wind in the South West, Perth Monday morning, both regions Tuesday morning, the South West Wednesday morning

Recap

Super clean but super small waves yesterday in the South West, while today a tiny windswell was seen across Perth and Mandurah but with less than ideal conditions. Margs was bumpy and choppy.

This weekend (Dec 17 - 18)

Our small bump in mid-period SW swell for tomorrow is still on the cards, produced by a weak front passing through our swell window the last two days.

Margs should see 3-4ft sets, with tiny 0.5-1ft waves around Perth, but conditions will be much cleaner with a fresh E'ly breeze, tending variable around midday ahead of possible late sea breezes.

An onshore S/SW change and easing swell will leave no options Sunday.

Next week onwards (Dec 19 onwards)

Our slow moving mid-latitude low is currently north of the Heard Island region, producing a healthy fetch of W/SW gales.

This low should continue east over the weekend, before weakening right to our south-west Sunday.

A moderate to large W/SW tending SW groundswell is due from this low, filling in Monday and reaching

6-8ft across the South West and 2ft to occasionally 3ft around Perth.

Winds will be average and from the S/SW across Margs, better and S/SE during the morning around Perth.

Tuesday is the day though with easing 5-6ft waves in the South West and 2ft in Perth under a morning E/SE breeze.

Wednesday morning should also be clean but much smaller.

Longer term moderate pulses of W/SW groundswell are due into the end of the week from mid-latitude frontal systems moving through the southern Indian Ocean.

The size looks to be a touch less than what's due Monday and winds won't improve until the weekend, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!

Good to see the swell filling in with reasonable conditions.
