Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 12th February)

Best Days: Sunday through Tuesday morning in the South West

Recap

Fun clean 3-4ft waves across the South West yesterday morning, tiny to the north, while today a surface trough moving in from the west brought less than ideal S'ly winds with average 3ft surf across the South West.

This weekend and next week (Feb 13 - 19)

The weekend will start a little average with a small building swell and S/SE-SE winds, but Sunday's good pulse of SW groundswell is still on track with the cold front resposnsible currently pushing towards the Bight.

A fun 4-5ft of SW swell is due Sunday morning with much better but gusty E/SE offshore winds, tending S/SE into the afternoon. Perth should see a touch more size Sunday morning to 1-1.5ft, fading into the afternoon.

Monday morning will be clean again with E/SE offshores but the swell will be smaller and easing from 3-4ft, tiny to 1ft around Perth.

Tuesday will be smaller again but nice with moderate to fresh E/NE offshores and late afternoon sea breezes, favouring swell magnets.

Some decent SW swell due later in the week has changed and been downgraded with the strong frontal system still expected to produce a good pre-frontal NW fetch, out of our swell window, but the trailing W/SW fetch is much weaker now.

Only a a small kick in size is now due later Wednesday and Thursday but with poor S/SE winds on the former and stronger SE winds Thursday.

Longer term we're still not due to see any significant swell, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
