Saturday and Monday onwards north of Margs
Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 3rd October)
Best Days: Saturday morning in Perth/Gero, Monday through Tuesday north of Margs, Wednesday and Thursday mornings everywhere
Recap
Conditions were better for longer than expected in the South West yesterday while Perth was fun and clean, but smaller with onshores up around Gero.
Today conditions were again good around Perth but also workable up at Gero, while Margs saw moderate to fresh onshores.
This weekend and next week (Oct 4 - 10)
A new pulse of W/SW groundswell will be spoilt in the South West tomorrow by light but freshening N/NW winds.
Perth and Gero should see light E/SE offshores through the morning though with 2-3ft and 3-5ft of swell respectively.
Come Sunday a strong frontal system pushing in from the west will create poor conditions across all coasts with strong W/NW tending SW winds.
This front will bring with it a large SW groundswell though, building later Sunday and peaking Monday morning to 6-8ft in the South West, 3ft in Perth and 4-5ft+ up at Gero but winds will likely be lingering from the SW tending W/NW in the South West.
Perth and Gero should see morning SE offshores through ahead of S/SW sea breezes.
Tuesday will be much cleaner around Perth and Gero as the swell continues to ease with straight offshore E'ly winds while Margs will unfortunately see fresh N/NW winds continuing.
Into Wednesday as the swell bottoms out more variable winds are due in the South West, probably light from the NE, but we'll review this Monday. Further north conditions should be great again with light offshores.
Longer term, as touched on last update, we're looking at a larger SW groundswell event next weekend as a strengthening node of the Long Wave Trough moves in from the west projecting a couple of vigorous fronts up towards the Bight. With this swell winds look favourable from the SE each morning, but we'll review this Monday. Have a great weekend!
