Recap

Yesterday started tiny on the Surf Coast with slow but clean 2-3ft sets on the exposed beaches but into the afternoon, our new small pulse of W/SW swell filled in with 2ft sets on the Surf Coast and 3-4ft waves to the east.

This swell has held this morning with clean conditions across all locations.

This week and weekend (Aug 1 - 4)

Looking at tomorrow and we’ve got our tricky but good sized W/SW groundswell due across the state, generated by a significant storm that fired up to the south-west of Western Australia on the weekend.

The swell came in XL across WA and should provide inconsistent but good 3-4ft waves on the Surf Coast tomorrow with 5ft sets on the magnets, 6ft to possibly near 8ft to the east. A peak is due through the morning before easing slowly later and more so Friday.

Local winds look generally NE tomorrow morning (tending N/NW in selected spots on the Surf Coast), with winds tending E/NE-NE into the afternoon.

Friday will then see easing surf with strengthening N/NE winds (likely N-N/NW on the Surf Coast early) and easing 2-3ft sets on the magnets, 3-5ft to the east.

A low point in swell is due on Saturday, while some inconsistent W/SW energy should be seen Sunday, generated by a trailing front on the backside of the progression linked to tomorrow’s swell.

It looks tricky and west again, likely only coming in at 2-3ft on the Surf Coast and 4-5ft+ to the east along with N/NW-NW winds, tending W/SW later.

Into next week, besides a small pulse of SW swell for Tuesday, we’ve got more small W/SW swells due along with favourable morning winds for the beaches. More on this Friday.
