Poor end to the week, better weekend
Victoria Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 23rd November)
Best Days: Surf Coast Saturday morning, Sunday morning and Monday morning
Recap
Onshore winds from early across all coasts yesterday morning, which was a little unexpected around Torquay, but an easing in wind strengths through the afternoon and strengthening in swell provided some fun beachy waves.
This morning Torquay was OK again with 2ft of lumpy/bumpy swell while the rest of the state was poor.
This week and weekend (Nov 24 - 27)
The end of the week isn't flash at all.
It looks like we'll see onshore winds from dawn tomorrow across all locations from the SW and easing surf from today. The chance for an early W'ly around Torquay is very low.
Friday will then be tiny on the Surf Coast and small on the Mornington Peninsula with freshening SW winds associated with a front pushing up and into us. Torquay is more likely to see an early W'ly, but with no size it won't be worth surfing.
This front should kick up a increase in SW windswell through the day to 2ft or so on the Surf Coast and 3-5ft on the Mornington Peninsula.
Our better increase in SW groundswell for the weekend is still on track but with a slight downgrade.
Back to back fetches of strong to near gale-force W/SW winds will be generated in our southern swell window over the coming two days, generating some fun mid-period SW swell.
Saturday morning should come in around 2-3ft, with a further increase to 3ft+ through the afternoon on the Surf Coast, holding a similar size Sunday morning before easing late.
The Mornington Peninsula should build to the 6ft range and ease from a similar size Sunday morning.
Winds on the weekend aren't ideal with a general W/SW flow across all regions, lighter from the W/NW early around Torquay each morning.
Next weekend onwards (Nov 28 onwards)
Easing surf is due into early next week likely from 2-3ft on the Surf Coast and 4-5ft on the Mornington Peninsula with light NW offshores across the state. There is the chance for more variable winds to the east, but we'll review this again on Friday.
It looks like we'll see onshore winds kick in again from Tuesday, with a possible new swell from a small mid-latitude low, but check back Friday for an update on this.
