Recap
Light onshore winds and 1-2ft of swell offered an OK wave for the keen yesterday, cleaner this morning but tiny and easing from 1.5ft.
This week and next (Jan 9 - 17)
Following yesterday’s small localised swell, it’s set to be tiny to end off the week, with a small pulse of inconsistent W/SW groundswell due to fill in on Sunday.
There’s a tiny hint of S/SE swell from a low that’s currently south of New Zealand due into Friday afternoon/Saturday morning but don’t expect anything over 1ft.
Sunday’s W/SW groundswell will be generated by a healthy low firing up to the south-west of Western Australia today, with a fetch of W’ly gales due to generate fun 2ft waves across Clifton, though inconsistent.
The morning window of N/NE winds is still on the cards, but a trough will bring a S’ly change by later morning so surf before then.
Easing surf with lingering S tending variable winds is due on Monday though 1-2ft sets are still due across Clifton thanks to the slow easing nature of the low.
The swell will fade into Tuesday as variable winds tend E/NE.
Mid-late week we may see some new tiny W/SW swell but into next weekend things look possibly more dynamic. More on this Friday.
