  • Tiny W/SW groundswell next Wed/Thu with strong W/SW tending S/SW winds Wed, variable S tending SE

Recap

Our strong pulse of W/SW and SW swell filled in yesterday with 3-4ft waves through the morning, building more into the afternoon with sea breezes, while today we’ve got nice conditions again with easing 3ft sets.

This weekend and next week (Dec 14 - 20)

The weekend looks fun for surf with the current energy due to continue easing, reinforced by some weaker mid-period swell from trailing frontal activity on the backside of the low, bringing yesterday’s swells.

Good 2ft sets should be seen tomorrow and Sunday before fading into Monday.

Conditions look good tomorrow morning with a N/NW offshore ahead of fresh SE sea breezes, variable E/NE, strengthening into the afternoon.

The surf will bottom out early next week, but come Wednesday and Thursday, a tiny W/SW swell should provide a little more size to 1ft+. The source is a strong but northward tracking low to the south-west of Western Australia, with it not really sitting favourably in our swell window.

Winds look average in any case with strong W/SW tending S/SW winds on Wednesday, lingering onshore Thursday but we’ll review this on Monday.

Longer term the outlook is a little unclear with a low possibly forming in the southern Tasman, generating some new S/SE swell but we’ll take another look at this next week. Have a great weekend!
