The outlook is very slow
Southern Tasmanian Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday October 16th)
Best Days: No good days
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Tiny, inconsistent W/SW swell tomorrow with variable tending weak S winds
- Fading swell Fri with strong N/NE-NE winds
Recap
The swell was still solid into yesterday morning after kicking Monday afternoon with straight 3ft+ sets across Clifton under light winds. Strong sea breezes created choppy conditions into the afternoon with tiny, fading surf today with the wind again coming from the north.
This week and next (Oct 17 - 25)
I hope you made the most of yesterday as the coming period remains slow. In fact it looks to be one of the slowest outlooks in months for the region.
The reason being that the storm track is sitting too far north of us with no significant polar storms due over the coming week or two, in our south-western swell window.
Tomorrow, a very inconsistent and west swell may offer 1-1.5ft sets across Clifton. Winds are now looking better and more variable tomorrow morning, with a trough in the region likely to suppress sea breezes into the afternoon. It’ll be onshore but lightish.
Friday then looks choppy with strong NE winds and fading surf.
Otherwise there’s nothing major to talk about at all for the region, so try and hunt out a little slider tomorrow. See you back here Friday.
