Recap

It was tiny and to 1-1.5ft on Saturday with clean conditions, fading through yesterday and hanging in the slow 1ft range today.

This week and weekend (Aug 13 - 18)

As touched on in last week’s notes, the coming period looks tiny for surf thanks to the westerly storm track being positioned too far north of Storm Bay’s swell window.

This will result in tiny to flat surf this week, with the weekend seeing a funky S/SE swell thanks to a deepening trough south of us on Friday.

We should see strong E/SE winds developing to our south-southeast, holding Saturday morning before weakening and shifting more E/NE, away from our swell window.

With this a small S/SE swell is likely to build Saturday, reaching 2ft on the sets before easing from a similar size on Sunday.

If the trough intensifies any further we can expect more size, and local winds depend on where the axis sits. A this stage morning offshore winds look to swing light onshore into the afternoons but we’ll review this Wednesday.

Longer term we might see a touch more activity next week but check back here on Wednesday.
