Fading surf with a tiny run ahead
Southern Tasmanian Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday August 7th)
Best Days: This evening, tomorrow selected spots
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Easing SW swell tomorrow with some small S component along with strong N/NE winds
- Tiny Fri and on the weekend with N/NW tending variable winds.
Recap
Our new W/SW swell came in nicely yesterday with clean 2ft+ surf all day, while today a reinforcing W/SW swell has offered similar sized but lumpier conditions into the afternoon.
This week and weekend (Aug 8 - 11)
Make the most of the current swell as the period ahead is small to tiny thanks to the westerly storm track sitting too far north of our swell window, focussed more towards Indonesia and Western Australia.
With this we’ll see all the action occurring too far north of us resulting in in tiny, inconsistent pulses of swell that will only favour beginners.
Tomorrow though should see easing 1-2ft sets from the SW, with some small S’ly swell also in the mix generated on the backside of the front that brought today’s energy.
Strong N/NE winds will favour some spots over others tomorrow, with Friday coming in tiny with N/NW tending variable winds.
The weekend will continue to be tiny with N/NW tending variable winds.
Next week looks even slower, so try and get out this evening or tomorrow.
