Recap
We’ve seen moderate + sized levels of swell the last two days coming in at 3-4ft yesterday and this morning but with the best conditions being seen yesterday, bumpy and onshore today.
This weekend and next week (Jun 15 - 21)
Today’s developing onshore winds are thanks to a deep, broad low forming in the southern Tasman Sea, east of us, with it due to strengthen significantly over the weekend while retrograding back to the west.
This will bring strengthening S winds tomorrow and a building local windswell, holding through Sunday.
Winds should start to ease and shift a bit more S/SW Monday morning as the low starts to project north, though this looks to see wind swing back S/SE into the afternoon.
Tuesday may see more variable W/SW-SW winds but we’ll confirm this on Monday, with Wednesday being more reliable to see a NW offshore.
Swell wise, the low is due to generate a large pulse of what looks to be E/SE groundswell now, thanks to the low sitting a touch further more north in our swell window.
Firstly, S/SE windswell is due to build through Sunday, reaching 4-5ft into the afternoon with some stronger period E/SE swell for Monday to a similar size, easing slowly into the afternoon.
Tuesday should still be 3-4ft with Wednesday backing off from 2-3ft.
Through this whole swell event you can expect larger surf down Storm Bay and further again on the East Coast.
Longer term the outlook is very slow so try and work the coming swell and winds (very tricky I know). Have a great weekend!
