Recap
The swell kicked up through yesterday as out new S/SW energy filled in with less than perfect but doable winds, while today is still around 3ft with cleaner conditions under a variable morning breeze.
This weekend and next week (Apr 4 - 10)
Looking at the weekend ahead and there looks to be fun surf on offer both days with today’s S/SW swell due to ease back into tomorrow from 2ft under a light N/NW breeze, shifting E/NE-NE into the afternoon.
A reinforcing pulse of fun S/SW swell should fill in overnight tomorrow and provide fun 2ft surf into Sunday morning, generated by a polar front that passed under us last night.
Winds for Sunday are tricky with early variable breezes due to shift onshore as a trough slides through. Weak W/SW-SW winds are due, tending S/SW through the day, with cleaner conditions due into Monday with a N/NW offshore, tending variable ahead of late sea breezes.
We should see a fun though inconsistent SW groundswell filling in through the day Monday, peaking later morning through the afternoon. It has been generated by a strong but distant polar low that formed east of the Heard Island region Wednesday evening and inconsistent but fun 1-2ft waves are due, easing from a similar size Tuesday.
For the rest of the week, continued polar frontal activity will generate small to possibly moderate sized swell pulses for the region but winds look to be less than ideal as the best increase fills in Friday. More on this Monday, have a great weekend!
