- Small S/SW swell for Mon and Tue AM, easing
- Strong S/SW winds Mon, N/NE tending strong NE Tue
Recap
Clean conditions and small surf yesterday, while today an onshore change is in but with some good sized S/SW swell on the build. Conditions are choppy and a mess.
This weekend and next week (Jan 20 - 26)
Today's blow is thanks to a strong mid-latitude low pushing east, across us, with a good amount of S/SW swell on the build, with it due to reach 3ft+ this afternoon but with terrible conditions.
Tomorrow looks much better for a paddle as the low clears and winds swing back offshore from the N'th along with easing 3ft sets across Clifton.
Afternoon sea breezes look late and relatively light so there should be plenty of time for two surfs.
Smaller surf us due into Sunday to 1-2ft and lingering SW winds are likely in the wake of a trough this evening, strengthening during the day and remaining strong SW-S/SW on Monday. Even with this, the surf will be OK for the keen on Sunday morning, poor Monday.
Tuesday still looks fun with winds swinging back to the N/NE with easing 2ft sets.
Longer term, the swell will bottom out mid-week ahead of an incoming mid-latitude frontal system.
This looks to generate a moderate sized W/SW swell for late next week, though the models diverge a little regarding the strength of the system.
More on this Monday. Have a grea weekend!
