Tiny run of surf this period
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday February 7th)
Best Days: Friday morning, Saturday morning for beginners
Features of the Forecast (tl;dr)
- Small to tiny W/SW swell Friday with W/NW tending S/SE winds, easing Sat with N tending E/NE winds
Recap
Friday’s S’ly swell faded back quickly into Saturday leaving clean 1-2ft waves across Clifton with yesterday’s small swell only coming in at 1-1.5ft with bumpy conditions. Today is back to 1ft and clean, ideal for beginners.
This week and weekend (Feb 8 - 13)
The coming outlook isn’t too flash with the weekend’s swell on the way out we’ve got a tiny to flat run of conditions over the coming days.
The next increase in size is due on Friday as a strong mid-latitude low dipping south-east from the Bight generates a weak fetch of W/SW winds briefly through our swell window Wednesday.
This only looks to generate a weak 1ft to maybe 2ft of W/SW swell for Friday, fading Saturday from 1-1.5ft.
Winds will be favourable and and out of the W/NW ahead of S/SE sea breezes Friday with N tending strong E/NE winds Saturday.
Longer term the increased Southern Ocean frontal activity hinted at late last week doesn’t seem on the cards any more unfortunately with a run of tiny surf to continue. Check back here on Wednesday for any change to the situation.
