Recap
Tiny surf on the beaches with the swell bottoming out.
This weekend and next week (Jan 29 – Feb 4)
A surface trough will bring an onshore change this afternoon and we'll see winds remain poor and onshore tomorrow, moderate to fresh from the S/SW in the morning, shifting S/SE later afternoon.
Size wise the surf will remain tiny, with some new W/SW groundswell due to fill in Sunday.
We've discussed this swell all week and it'll be infrequent but sets to 2ft are due across Clifton along with a light NE tending variable E/NE breeze. This will favour selected locations over others.
A better N/NE offshore wind is due on Monday but with easing sets from 1-2ft ahead of stronger E/NE breezes into the afternoon.
Our small reinforcing pulse of mid-period SW swell for Tuesday is on track but the tight low linked to this will be fast moving, slim and not the best swell generator.
It looks to offer 2ft sets across Clifton with light N/NE breeze, tending variable ahead of S/SE sea breezes.
Come Wednesday a trough will bring a strong S/SW change before dawn and this will signal a change in the weather and winds for us, with a broad, slow moving high due to move in from the west, bringing persistent S'ly winds that'll persist into next weekend.
Swell wise only a small, weak windswell is due Wednesday, fading Thursday with no significant groundswell to follow. Therefore make the most of the windows coming Sunday and early next week. Have a great weekend!
